How to drive in foggy weather

Driving in foggy weather should be: 1. Pay attention to driving. In the Road Traffic Safety Law, it is clearly pointed out that drivers should turn on the fog lights on their vehicles in time in order to let other drivers see their vehicles. If there are no fog lights on the car, turn on the small lights on the motor vehicle and drive even during the day.

2. Be mentally prepared. Before driving, you should accurately judge the visibility of the day, so that you know fairly well. The less visibility, the more vigilant you should be when driving. If the visibility is less than 5 meters, it is extremely foggy. It is best not to drive, and wait until the fog subsides or lightens before driving.

3. Check the vehicle fog lights. If you must go out in foggy days, pay attention to check whether the vehicle fog lights are normal before leaving, and install qualified fog lights according to national standards. When the visibility is less than 1 km in foggy days, the headlights and rear fog lights must be turned on. Turning on headlights is not only to see the car in front, but more importantly to remind the car in front. It's best not to turn on the high beam on foggy nights. Because the high beam is designed to irradiate a large area, it is easy to cause scattering in the fog. Turning on the high beam will cause scattered light in front of the driver, and it will be white, but the front can't be seen clearly.

4. Pay attention to the speed. When driving in fog, you'd better not drive too fast. Because of the unclear sight, driving too fast is very prone to traffic accidents. The greater the fog, the shorter the visual distance, and the lower your speed should be. Experts suggest that when the visibility is less than 5 meters and more than 2 meters, the speed should not exceed 8 kilometers per hour; When the visibility is less than 2 meters and more than 1 meters, the speed shall not exceed 6 kilometers per hour; When the visibility is less than 1 meters and more than 5 meters, the speed shall not exceed 4 kilometers per hour; When the visibility is within 3 meters, the speed should be controlled below 2 kilometers per hour; When the general sight distance is about 1 meters, the speed should be controlled below 5 kilometers per hour.

5. Keep the distance between cars. When driving in fog, you should drive at a low speed as much as possible, especially keep a safe distance from the car in front, don't follow too closely, and don't overtake casually. You should take the initiative to keep a safe distance from the car in front, and in case of problems ahead, you can also leave enough emergency distance and reaction time for yourself. If you find that the rear car is too close to you, you can gently brake a few times, but you can't really brake, just let the brake light light on to remind the rear car to keep a proper distance.

6. Don't slam on the brakes. When driving in fog, generally don't slam on or quickly release the accelerator, let alone slam on the brakes and the steering wheel. If it is really necessary to slow down the speed, first slowly release the accelerator, and then lightly step on the brakes several times in succession, so as to control the speed and prevent the rear-end collision.
