What are the main types of dehydration in summer?

The types of dehydration can be divided into three types according to the degree of water and salt shortage.

(1) dehydration due to water shortage

Also known as simple dehydration or hypertonic dehydration. This type of dehydration is mainly based on water loss, with less salt loss. It is characterized by hypertonic body fluids. The main reasons for dehydration due to water shortage are:

(1) livestock are transported for a long distance or in high drought areas, and drinking water supply is insufficient due to water shortage.

② When suffering from pharyngitis, esophageal obstruction, lockjaw caused by tetanus and coma caused by encephalitis, people can't drink or eat because of swallowing difficulties.

(3) When the sick animals breathe faster, sweat profusely and burn extensively, they can't be replenished in time due to the increase of water loss.

4 taking too many diuretics, a lot of water will be excreted with urine, which will also cause dehydration.

(2) Lack of salt and dehydration

Also known as hypotonic dehydration. Mainly salt loss. And less water loss. It is characterized by low permeability of body fluids. The main reasons for salt deficiency and dehydration are:

① When acute enteritis and other digestive tract diseases occur, diarrhea loses a lot of digestive juice, which contains sodium ions (the concentration of sodium is often close to that of plasma sodium).

② Livestock perspire a lot during heatstroke, and excrete a lot of sodium salt with sweat.

③ In renal diseases, the reabsorption of sodium by renal tubules decreases, while urinary sodium excretion increases.

(4) When a large area burns, there is a large amount of plasma oozing from the wound surface, and sodium salt can also be lost to cause dehydration.

(3) mixed dehydration

Also known as isotonic dehydration, it refers to the loss of water and salt in the body, but the loss of water is often slightly significant. It is characterized by isotonicity of body fluids. This dehydration is the most common in clinic. The main reasons for this situation are:

① In acute enteritis, due to severe diarrhea, a large amount of isotonic digestive juice is lost.

② During diseases such as intestinal displacement, a large amount of leakage fluid enters the abdominal cavity, resulting in a decrease in blood volume.

③ During heatstroke, a lot of body fluids are lost due to sweating.

④ When organophosphorus poisoning occurs, body fluids are lost due to excessive saliva secretion.

⑤ This type of dehydration can also be caused by a large amount of plasma oozing from the wound surface when a large area is burned, resulting in the loss of water and salt.
