Liu Bing and his New Chen Hao Porcelain Kiln in China

Liu Bing, a native of Zaozhuang, has an indissoluble bond with Chen Hao porcelain kiln in Zaozhuang. Before that, outside Zaozhuang, or in other words, outside intangible cultural heritage and cultural relics, he and it were rarely known to the world.

Zhongchen Porcelain Kiln is located in Zhongchen Village on the outskirts of Zaozhuang City. In recent years, with several archaeological excavations, especially the discovery of porcelain kilns in the Sui Dynasty, it has been called "the first kiln in Jiangbei" by the archaeological community. In May 2006, it was approved by the State Council as the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Liu Bing, a native of Zaozhuang, graduated from Shandong Light Industry Art School majoring in design, and has been engaged in related work since graduation. Born in an ordinary class, I have a strong interest in art. After learning about the long history and artistic achievements of local Zhongchenhao ceramics, he came up with the idea of excavating this skill a thousand years ago.

In 20 15, Liu Bing established Zhongchenhao Ceramic Culture Research Institute, which was devoted to the research and production of Zhongchenhao ceramics. He collected and inquired about historical materials and books, visited old artists, and explored the production methods of China, Chen and Hao ceramics in history. He built traditional wooden kilns, purchased modern gas kilns and electric kilns, and traveled around Zouwu to collect earth glazes. * * * collected more than 40 kinds of clay, trying to restore the splendid art of 1400 years ago with original clay and ancient methods.

In the long reburning years, the experimental firing process is very difficult, and the temperature must be constantly adjusted 12 hours. If the temperature rises by 3℃ in one minute, it may go wrong if it rises by 4℃. In order to ensure the success of the experiment, Liu Bing dare not be careless for a moment. Even he has to run to the toilet and come back quickly for fear that the temperature control will burn out. In winter, you have to squat outside and watch the kiln.

Every kiln, from the choice of tire material and glaze concentration to the atmosphere, temperature, time and weather in the kiln. He made detailed data records for summary and adjustment. In his own words: "There is no shortcut, only keep trying."

In five years, Liu Bing burned nearly 200 kilns, and the burned works piled up into hills. The savings of the design business for many years have also been invested in kiln burning. During this period, he was discouraged and almost gave up, but considering the unique charm of Hao ceramics, as well as the pursuit of inheriting and carrying forward Zaozhuang culture and art, he persisted.

In April 2020, finally, a perfect work of kiln came out. At that time, Liu Bing was in tears. What he regrets is not his own hardships, but the wisdom and talent of the ancients-such a beautiful work was burned by the ancients who lived in Zaozhuang more than 400 years ago.

On the basis of deciphering the ancient technical code, Liu Bing started his own innovation and development. The representative works of Chen Hao ceramics in Sui Dynasty that he rebuilt are pan-mouth pot and four-series pot. Sui celadon is simple and elegant, radiant. Now he uses the northern traditional patterns and Zaozhuang elements to innovate, create pomegranate bottles and explore the hollowing out process. His works have also won many awards. At the 12th China (Shandong) Arts and Crafts Expo in 2020, "Picking Garlic Bottle" and "Mume Bottle" won the design innovation excellence award and silver award respectively.

Recently, the first Dehua "China White" China Traditional Ceramic Art Biennale was held in Dehua, the ceramic capital of the world, and Chen Zhong's celadon work "Pregnancy" was shortlisted for the exhibition.

This Biennale * * * has 1330 entries from China, Japan, Korea, Britain and other countries. After online preliminary evaluation and on-site re-evaluation, 65,438+0,58 entries (sets) were shortlisted. The selected works of Zaozhuang Zhongchenhao Ceramic Culture Research Institute can be shortlisted, which shows the artistic achievements of Zaozhuang traditional ceramic culture in keeping with the times.

Liu Bing's success has also been recognized by the society, and naturally there are also clamors from literati and poets. Attached is a recent poem by Zaozhuang poet Zhang Mingjun.
