What should I do if litchi encounters frequent rainfall in full bloom? Suggestions from agricultural technology experts in Conghua →

April

Since the beginning of Conghua, the local litchi has entered the full bloom stage.

In the early stage, the overall flowering rate of litchi in our region was high and the quality of flower spikes was good, but the recent frequent rainfall affected the growth of litchi flowers.

In this regard, fruit farmers should strengthen the management of litchi in time to minimize the impact of adverse weather and ensure a bumper harvest.

On April 6, there were litchi trees of Guiwei and Jinggang Hongnuo in the litchi forest in Shikeng Village, Wenquan Town.

Litchi flowers on the trees are in full bloom, and some litchi trees have already produced small fruits.

In order to ensure the harvest of litchi, agronomists from the regional agricultural technology extension center went into the fields to check the growth status of litchi flowers, and explained the details of litchi management and protection to farmers to help fruit farmers reduce the impact of adverse weather.

"At present, the first thing fruit farmers should do is to pay attention to dredging ditches to avoid waterlogging in orchards and affect the normal growth of fruit trees; Second, flowers should be shaken in time after rain to avoid retting, which is beneficial to pollination and fertilization and increase fruit setting.

Third, orchards with conditions should be artificially pollinated when the female flowers are in full bloom, which is more effective.

Pan Jianjun, a senior agronomist at the District Agricultural Technology Extension Center, said.

It is worth mentioning that at present, our area is in the period of no bee release, which lasts until April 15. It is forbidden to use all pesticides during the drug prohibition period, and do not use pesticides (such as organophosphorus and organochlorine) with long residual period and great toxicity to bees before the drug prohibition period, so as not to harm bees and affect the quality of honey.
