The difference between barometer and wind vane
Barometer is mainly used to measure the change of atmospheric pressure, help people to judge the weather conditions, including sunny and rainy days, and can predict the short-term changes of the weather. In meteorology, it is also considered as an instrument that can reflect the changing trend of atmospheric pressure in time.
A weather vane is a device used to measure the wind direction. It is basically an asymmetric object with its center of gravity fixed on the vertical axis. When the wind blows, the end with great resistance to the airflow will rotate with the wind to show the wind direction. Wind vane is widely used in meteorology, chemical industry, mining area, agriculture, oil field exploration and other industries.
Therefore, barometer is mainly used to measure and predict weather changes, while wind vane is mainly used to measure and indicate the direction of wind.
