The History and Culture of Ruyi Bridge

In the thirty-third year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1605), Lv Shangcai and others from Liangshe Village in Xingtai County raised funds to build Ruyi Bridge. This bridge is a single-hole longitudinal lattice stone arch bridge with a height of 8m, a rise of 5.8m, a length of 24m, a width of 6.8m and a span of11.5m.. After more than 400 years of vicissitudes, it is still a highway bridge from Xingtai to Xiyang. The Tomcat Bridge Monument is well protected and is a key cultural relic to be protected.

Two couplets are engraved on the pilaster of the bridge:

Since the Ruyi Bridge in Kanazawa is the upper part and the Yong 'an Bridge in LULU is the lower part, it will be called the Male Bridge in Kanazawa and the Female Bridge in LULU. The two bridges are far apart, just like a loving couple, looking forward to each other day and night. This is the treasure and beautiful imagination of the people in the water town for the ancient bridge.

According to "Takashi Kanazawa", "Ruyi Bridge confronts Yong 'an Bridge in LULU. When the weather is clear, when you climb the bridge and overlook it, the holes around you faintly set each other off, which is called the "male-female bridge". According to an old man's legend, when Kanazawa built Ruyi Bridge, because it was tall and beautiful, at the completion ceremony, a LULU gentleman came and expressed envy, hoping to build a bridge like this in LULU's hometown. After the gentleman returned to Xu Lu, he was recognized by the villagers and discussed fund-raising.

When building a bridge in LULU, Mr Kanazawa got support, and Kanazawa's bridge builder also went to help. A few years later, the stone bridge was also built. Lu Xu villagers beat gongs and drums to discuss the name of the bridge at the completion ceremony, demanding that it be connected with the meaning of the name of the bridge in Jinze Ruyi Bridge. At this time, an elderly man, full of energy, improvised a poem: "Good luck, good harvest, peaceful mountains and rivers in Yong 'an, beautiful rivers. "Hearing this, everyone clapped their hands and said good. The gentleman who presided over the ceremony said, "Thank you for your elders, good poems, good poems. "So I used the first word of the second couplet, and the bridge was named Yong 'an. Participants unanimously shouted: "Yong' an Bridge is good, Yong' an Bridge is beautiful!" In this way, the bridge in LULU is called "Yong 'an Bridge".
