What kind of weather is easy to form lunar halo?
What's going on here? We call this aperture around the sun or moon "halo". The aperture around the sun is called "solar halo" and the aperture around the moon is called "lunar halo". This is a strange meteorological phenomenon. The color of halo is generally infrared violet.
The appearance of solar halo or lunar halo often indicates that the weather will change to a certain extent.
On a clear sky or a midsummer night in Wan Li, when you look up at the sky, sometimes you will find a beautiful light ring around the sun and the moon, with infrared purple inside, which looks like gauze and a freehand painting. This beautiful light ring is called solar halo and lunar halo in meteorology. They are caused by the refraction of light from the sun and the moon when they pass through the atmosphere because the atmosphere contains different water vapor.
The ancients used dizziness to predict the weather a long time ago, such as "the sun is dizzy in the rain for three nights, and the moon is dizzy in the afternoon wind", "the sun is flail in the rain, and the moon is flail in the wind", "the sky is dizzy and the water often flows" and so on, all of which are weather proverbs about dizziness. These proverbs seem to indicate that whenever there is dizziness, there will be wind and rain.
Then, the sun and the moon are dizzy, will there be wind and rain? This should start with the formation of the halo. Halo looks like a feather and a ponytail, which is a product called cirrostratus in meteorology. Meteorology reveals that the clouds that produce precipitation are low-middle clouds, and cirrostratus itself does not produce major precipitation, but only the precursor clouds of low-middle clouds that appear in the sky later. However, after the emergence of cirrostratus, there must be low-middle cloud systems that can produce precipitation, so there is a solar halo, which may not necessarily produce precipitation.
The formation of some auras, not only will not form wind and rain, but the weather will clear up.
In summer, you can often see some convective clouds such as steamed bread and horse hair. But when the current weakens, the clouds will collapse and become bundles of feathered cirrostratus. This kind of cloud usually appears in the daytime and afternoon. When there is a sun, you can also see an incomplete but colorful halo on these clouds. At this time, the convection itself is already very weak, and there will be no precipitation after fainting. When there is precipitation in other places, the air over the precipitation area will spread around, driving the high-altitude clouds to spread to the periphery of the rain area. At this time, observers far away from the rain area will see patches of high clouds, including some cirrostratus. People living in the control area south of Meiyu front in Jianghuai can often see this situation. Because the precipitation area of this stationary front rarely moves, the high clouds extending far away from the sky rarely change. Sometimes, outside the stationary front, you can see the halo around the sun for several days; At night, if there is a moon, you can still see the halo, but there is no precipitation.
All of the above shows that it is difficult to have precipitation after dizziness. So, where did the proverb of seeing dizzy rain come from?
The practice of contemporary meteorological science shows that when the weather turns from sunny to cloudy to rainy, people first see cirrostratus, and then there will be low clouds in the sky, which will produce rainfall. When cirrostratus will appear depends on whether low clouds develop. If they do this, the result will be rain. This is the main sign to judge whether there is wind and rain after the sun and moon are dizzy. Whether it is dizziness for several days in a row or a flash in the pan, it depends on the development speed of low and medium clouds after dizziness. The development of middle and low clouds moves in quickly, and precipitation comes quickly; Development moves in slowly, and precipitation comes late; If you don't move in, there will be no precipitation.
