Look up at the bright stars.
Not long ago, a string of comet fragments (each several thousand meters in size) hit Jupiter. On that mysterious planet, an "earth-shattering" event happened. If there are any creatures there, their fate will be miserable. In those days when comets hit trees, hundreds of millions of eyes all over the world stared at the planets closely related to the earth in the sky. It is said that TV stations in western countries broadcast the news that comets hit trees 24 hours a day, which is an absolute news hotspot. In China, however, the media remain calm enough to convey the information obtained by foreign scientific tools to the public in an almost numb tone. It seems that the collision between comets and trees is a small natural disaster on an island in the depths of the ocean.
In those days, I have been thinking, if one day, the same fate falls on the earth, what should human beings do? In the past, worrying about the sky was ironic to some people. Now, should we learn from those who are worried about the sky? Is it a little worrying? Since fragments of a comet can "kiss" Jupiter, who can guarantee that it will not "kiss" the earth? This "kiss" is the real world falling apart, not a joke.
A man named Wang Hongqi wrote a wonderful book, Mysterious Planet Culture and Games. In those days when the comet hit the wood, this book accompanied me and taught me many lessons. Wang Hongqi believes that in the not-too-distant ancient times, fragments of asteroids or comets did visit the earth, and caused great disasters that almost destroyed mankind. Wang believes that several famous myths and legends in ancient China, such as mending the sky, shooting the sun from Houyi, the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon and chasing the sun, are all related to a huge astronomical event at that time.
This is an event in which an alien star is big enough to collide with the earth. When it enters the earth's atmosphere, the intense friction makes it glow with the purpose of burning, making indescribable noise, and it is very likely to split into many pieces (it will come out in ten days), and then the wind and cloud suddenly change, the rocks break, the earth shakes, the mountains cry and the tsunami, and the world changes color-these huge words are the portrayal of the facts and later become big adjectives. This incident greatly shocked the ancient humans in a chaotic state, making them look up at the stars. This astronomical event opened their minds and produced a sense of history and philosophy.
"Huainanzi Astronomical Training" said: "Once upon a time, workers and Zhuan Xu fought for the emperor, but they were angry and could not attack Zhoushan. Tianzhu was folded, the land was scarce, the sky tilted to the northwest, so the sun, the moon and the stars moved; The land is not satisfied with the southeast, the water is flowing and the dust is returning. "Buzhoushan is a huge crater caused by this impact. According to Wang's explanation, "bad" is an incomplete circle. Maybe that celestial body has an angle. The terrible consequence of this incident is that "the sky leans to the northwest, and the sun, the moon and the stars move accordingly." Needham, a famous British scholar, keenly pointed out that this is the earliest knowledge about the inclination of the earth's rotation axis in ancient China, and of course it is also the earliest knowledge about the inclination of the earth's rotation axis in human history. Wang believes that it is difficult to make up for it unless you experience it yourself. Melancholy changes in the inclination of the earth's rotation axis, as well as the huge amount of dust after the impact ("The Yellow Emperor and Chiyou fought in the wild of Zhuolu, Chiyou was foggy in March"), do not rule out the tsunami caused by the falling of broken high-temperature celestial bodies into the sea ("East of Fusang, there are stones, and Fiona Fang is 40,000 miles, so the sea water is injected, so it burns out"), forest fires caused by the falling of meteorites, and so on. Therefore, ancient myths and legends are not only the record of that catastrophe, but also the record of our ancient ancestors' tenacious struggle with nature in order to survive and finally win.
I think the so-called Pangu, Nuwa, Houyi, Chang 'e, Kuafu and Jingwei should be the names of the heroes of our ancient ancestors or the heroes they created. Pangu's opening up the heavens and the earth is the collective behavior of our ancestors, and Nu Wa tried to mend the sky by refining stones, while Hou Yi shot the sun with a bow, and Kuafu held a staff day by day, while Jingwei held stones to fill the sea. The Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon was understood by Wang Hongqi as a sacrifice to the moon (or glowing celestial fragments). This reminds me of Lawrence's famous novel The Woman Riding. Is it a continuation of ancient witchcraft that Indians bring women to Yue Bai? Of course, these wonderful legends must have come into being several years after that great event, after the formation of a new natural environment and the re-establishment of mankind for several years. The catastrophe was passed down from generation to generation through legends to later generations who mythologized historical events, and it was not recorded in Shan Hai Jing until the writing came into being. It is also fascinating to think about the creator and disseminator of the wonderful and endless gobbledygook "Shan Hai Jing".
It is hardly accidental that the ancient myths and legends of all ethnic groups in the world are strikingly similar, and they all have the contents of creating the world, 10 days coexistence and catastrophic floods. After all, the earth is very small, and the consequences of that astronomical event did not only affect Nu Wa, Hou Yi and Chang 'e. At that time, it was unknown whether human beings formed a race with distinctive signs, and it was hard to say whether human beings evolved from apes. I think "ancient myths and legends" is a complex concept, and myths and legends are not the same thing. Although legends have been mythical for a long time, it is not entirely because ancestors did not understand scientific knowledge. Legend itself is a process of adding oil and vinegar. If there are more literati to process it, it will be even more confusing and must be radiant. Even Sima Qian did the same. According to archaeological findings, people in the Han Dynasty were generally shorter than people today, but Xiang Yu was already a giant in Sima Qian's works. Myth should be a relatively modern product, an ideal product and a reflection of reality, such as the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl. Legends, however vivid, always have a real event as the core. Therefore, the ancient legends such as Goddess Mending the Sky, the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon and Shooting the Moon in Nine Days have historical value, while the Cowherd and the Weaver Maid and the Fairy generally have only literary and ethical value.
The scene of a comet colliding with a tree (which has been observed) is strikingly similar to that recorded in ancient books such as Shan Hai Jing and Huai Nan Zi. For example, the indescribable light breaks through Jupiter's deep atmosphere and stands thousands of kilometers of huge smoke columns. Although Jupiter is more than 1300 times larger than the earth, this impact has also made it tremble for a long time (as if remembering the rhetoric that "the oil workers roar and the earth will shake three times", my heart is inexplicably sad). According to Wang Hongqi, in recent years, several huge craters have been discovered on the earth (the smoky Taihu Lake is also suspected to be a crater). Judging from the above inference, the earth did encounter a catastrophe similar to a comet hitting a tree, which shows that the earth is not safe, so it is reasonable to worry about the sky, and a new era of worrying about the sky should begin.
That ancient catastrophe may be regarded as a turning point for mankind, but should the collision between comets and trees be regarded as a new turning point? This is a real "warning from heaven". I think mankind should realize that the earth is so small, the boundaries between countries, the differences in social systems and the struggles between classes are simply ridiculous compared with the collision of comets. If one day an asteroid or other celestial body that has been wandering is close to the earth, even if it hits new york, Shanghai will not be comfortable. Humans really should be generous. More open-minded and generous, less petty; More frankness, less scheming; Be more honest and less selfish. I think when an American astronaut stands on the moon, he doesn't just represent the "American emperor". If one day, the people of China change the orbit of the asteroid that collided with Beijing and let it pass by the earth, we will not only save the citizens of Beijing and the capital of China. Therefore, we ordinary people should also want to open some. The most precious diamond is also a stone. In the desert, its value is not as good as a watermelon skin. As for the struggle for power and profit, speculation, tattling on friends, flattering and bullying for their own jobs, betraying friends for honor, etc., it is even more boring.
Of course, everything will remain the same. The observation and research on the collision between comets and trees have made me feel the greatness of human beings and lamented that human beings are hopeless. Even if whispers hit the earth tomorrow, Japanese rice will not be given to North Korea for nothing, and the border of the United States will not be open to the whole world. Ordinary people will be better, but at most, like those people in the editorial story, they will eat an extra bowl of box lunch-take care of their stomachs first, and it is still difficult to change their selfish nature when they die. It's hard to imagine what heads of state would do. According to the analysis of a knowledgeable friend of mine, once the earth is facing extinction, heads of state will fly to the moon in rockets to play Chang 'e, and I know he is joking. What are dozens of presidents doing on the desolate moon? Although enough water and oxygen and delicious food have been reserved for them for a long time, they will soon get bored without enough people to lead them. So I think, when the earth is in crisis, these great men will not fly to the moon. They will probably do two things: one is to tightly block the news to the people, and the other is to launch missiles and other things to intercept celestial bodies that hit the earth.
Writing here, I suddenly remembered the villager Luan Laizong and his grandson Luan Juqing in Huatong Village, Shuangyang Town, Hanting District, Weifang City, not far from my hometown. Luan's grandparents and grandchildren are famous "star addicts". They devoted their lives to studying the relationship between the trajectories of the five planets in the solar system and the earth's meteorology and crustal movement, and wrote two monographs, Planets and Long-term Weather Prediction and Star Movement and Long-term Weather and Earthquake Prediction, which attracted worldwide attention. Two simple farmers, who have no school education, eat dried sweet potatoes and drink cold water, but they can have such lofty vision and broad mind. Only by understanding the mysterious field of astronomy and observing with the naked eye, they have gained rich knowledge, which really makes luxury foodies ashamed. In the era of my grandfather Luan Laizong, Weifang produced many juren and scholars, many of whom got high officials and generous salaries, but from the point of view of their contribution to mankind and human value, they were not as good as a hillbilly Luan Laizong. Their eyes looked at the gold and silver treasures and the flashing crown of the official hat, while Luan Laizong's eyes were looking up at the brilliant starry sky.
