With a total area of 5240.5 square kilometers, a total population of 5.08 million and 3 million overseas Chinese, the city is a major port city and a key hometown of overseas Chinese in the coastal open areas of Guangdong, and it is also the largest and most populous prefecture-level city in eastern Guangdong.
Jieyang City is located in the southeast of Guangdong Province, with a land span of11536 ′ from east longitude to1/637 ′″ 39 ″ from 22 53 ′ to 23 46 ′″ north latitude. There are Xingmei in the north, Nanhai in the south, Shantou and Chaozhou in the east and Shanwei in the west. Jieyang terrain inclines from west to east, with low hills and valleys and plains alternating and unevenly distributed. The northwest and southwest are mostly hills and mountains, while the middle, south and southeast are vast and fertile Rongjiang alluvial plain and coastal sedimentary plain. Known as the "land of plenty".
Jieyang belongs to the subtropical monsoon humid climate, with abundant sunshine and rainfall, and no snow and little frost all year round. There are reservoirs and hydropower stations in the upper reaches of most rivers, such as Longjing Reservoir in the upper reaches of Rongjiang River, Shiliutan Reservoir in Longjiang River and Beishan Reservoir in Longtan Water. The theoretical hydraulic reserves of the city are 448,700 kilowatts, of which the exploitable installed capacity is162,200 kilowatts, accounting for about 36.2% of the theoretical reserves.
Jieyang is surrounded by mountains and seas, with beautiful mountains and rivers, many places of historical interest and revolutionary memorial sites. The main attractions are: provincial historical and cultural city Rongcheng, Jieyang Gong Xue, Shuangfeng Temple, Huang Qishan scenery, Guizhuyuan scenic spot; Huilai Shenquan Cape Ganquan and Mirage, Baihua Peak and Mingchao Rock; Jiexi Lintian Ancestral Temple, guangde temple; Puning Peifeng Pagoda and Ma Si Rock. There are also the footprints left by revolutionary martyrs such as Zhou Enlai, He Long, Ye Ting and Guo Moruo, and the Great Nanshan Revolutionary Base.
