This piece of meat looks ordinary, but it is meaningful. Why?

In fact, boiled white meat sacrifice has a long history. As early as the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, it had become popular. People think that the simpler the food, the more suitable it is to do the most sacred and pure things, such as sacrifice. Sacrifice was not common in ancient times, especially in the royal family.

Since ancient times, emperors have a concept that their throne is given by heaven, so they must worship heaven and God, so as to bless their country's long-term stability and prosperity. Sacrificial food, whether it is meat or leftover fruits and vegetables, is the most primitive cooking method, that is, it is the best food without adding any seasoning or even salt.

Of course, there is no problem with this kind of food sacrifice, but with the development of the times, people later found that it was too wasteful to abandon so much food after the sacrifice, so a tradition was formed that some of the food after the sacrifice should be given to the people who participated in the sacrifice, which is called auspiciousness.

Since the popularity of this custom, people have been wronged, especially in the Qing Dynasty, because it is close to us and has left a lot of historical materials. In the sacrificial activities of the Qing Dynasty, the last remaining ingredients were for ministers to eat, and everyone had to eat them in front of the emperor. At first, everyone ate that kind of fat and unpalatable meat, and some people threw up after eating it, which was really painful.

In order to prevent themselves from vomiting after eating, many ministers deliberately dipped some spices in the paper in advance and put them in their own soup during the sacrifice, so that the taste came out, not only not bad, but also delicious. It must be said that people's wisdom usually grows gradually for survival. If there is no pressure to survive, wisdom will definitely become lower.

After talking about the meat for sacrifice, let's continue to talk about the thing that Yongzheng gave Li Hong meat. As mentioned above, this piece of meat was originally not delicious, but because it was given a special meaning, it should be eaten even if it tastes bad. What's the special significance of this?

Historically, when the emperor passed the throne or chose Chu Jun, he always used sacrificial meat as a hint, that is, he liked to take this kind of meat to Chu Jun to eat. In other words, as long as a prince eats this meat alone, it means that he will become a Chu Jun.

Yongzheng gave Qianlong this piece of meat, which is such a special existence. Although the meat is not delicious, it means that Yongzheng handed over the position of Chu Jun to Qianlong. Of course, he ate the meat excitedly, and all the other princes envied it and wanted to eat it. Unfortunately, they didn't have a chance to eat it, so they just sighed.

Sure enough, after Li Hong finished eating meat, Li Hong attended Kangxi's birthday instead of his father Yongzheng. Kangxi already likes Li Hong, so he is happier. As early as Kangxi had not chosen Yongzheng as Chu Jun, he had already liked young Li Hong very much, and he specially brought Li Hong to the palace to be raised with the son of the prince, which was enough to show how much he liked Li Hong.

In the second year of Yongzheng, Yongzheng directly invited Li Hong to preside over the sacrificial activities. This move fully shows that Yongzheng hopes that Li Hong will become Chu Jun, and the rest of the governors can only stand aside and dare not have wild desires. Even if there is a little wild thoughts, such as Hongshi, the ending is more serious, and Yongzheng directly eliminated the clan.

In fact, when Qianlong was young, he was indeed a very good candidate for the emperor. The reason why Kangxi and Yongzheng both like him is not groundless. If we look at what Qianlong did when he ascended the throne in his early years, we can know that this emperor made great achievements.
