The climate of San Bruno

San Bruno has a Mediterranean climate typical of the San Francisco Bay Area. Summers are dry and winters are rainy. Unlike San Jose in the South Bay, summers here are dry and cool. The average maximum temperature is only 23 degrees Celsius, which is not as hot as the neighboring cities to the south (29 degrees Celsius). Winters are the same as other areas and colder.

It almost never snows here in winter, but there have been rare occasions in history when snow was as thick as 3.8 cm (January 21, 1962). In winter, the temperature here averages only 1.3 days a year below zero degrees Celsius. An extremely low temperature of -7°C was recorded on December 11, 1932. Under normal circumstances, temperatures below freezing rarely occur.

In summer, there are about 4 days per year when the temperature exceeds 32°C. The average maximum is around 23°C. Like San Francisco, the hottest month occurs in September. In the summer, foggy weather is common here, usually in the middle of the night and in the morning. It hardly rains in the summer here, except for the light drizzle that accompanies heavy fog. On extremely rare occasions, the maximum temperature here can exceed 40°C.
