What about damp heat? What is better to eat?

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, when moisture invades the upper energizer, it will be difficult to cough with excessive phlegm or get up early with excessive phlegm. Dampness belongs to yin, heat to yang, and yin and yang are a pair of contradictions. When cold and heat coexist, damp heat constitution will appear.

In hot and humid weather, such people will feel sticky all over. Dr. Wu Yueping said that people who suffer from damp heat for a long time will have symptoms such as tiredness, reluctance to move, greasy face, dirty hair and greasy tongue coating. There are still many people who have bad breath after getting up in the morning, don't want to eat or have bloated stomachs after eating, and their stools are thin and sticky, making it difficult to defecate.

In addition, if a female friend has "acne" on her face, leucorrhea increases and turns yellow, which may also be affected by damp heat.

People of all ages may be affected by damp heat, especially those aged 30-45, who belong to the "earth" age in life and have heavy moisture in their bodies. The turn of summer and autumn belongs to the "long summer" season in traditional Chinese medicine, and it also corresponds to the "dirty" in the five elements. The combination of exterior and interior and humidification are more prone to the above symptoms.

If damp-heat attacks children, the most common symptoms are diarrhea and poor stool. If damp heat invades the elderly, there will be symptoms such as acid fatigue of lower limbs, backache and so on.

Eat less greasy and sweet food to prevent damp heat.

Damp heat constitution, except through diet conditioning, should not overeat, eat less greasy food and sweets, and maintain good digestive function. Drink water moderately to avoid water stopping inside or entering from the outside. You should go to bed early and get up early, often ventilate indoors, try not to use air conditioning, and develop the habit of defecating on time. Get up early and exercise until you sweat. Sweating helps to get rid of dampness, but don't sweat to avoid getting angry.

Dampness and heat in the body, if only manifested as mild symptoms, will be improved through the above conditioning. If the symptoms are serious and the conditioning effect is not good, it is best to seek TCM treatment based on syndrome differentiation before conditioning.

Diet conditioning, eat more aromatic food.

Vegetables: Eat more fragrant vegetables such as coriander, Schizonepeta and Pogostemon. But these dishes are also wet and you can't eat too much. These dishes can be eaten as side dishes to remove moisture. There are also bean sprouts, mung bean sprouts, wax gourd, papaya and yam, which can be eaten as the main course to promote dampness.

Tea: Folium Artemisiae Argyi and Eupatorium odoratum are warm, which can dehumidify, while bamboo leaves and lotus leaves are cool, which can clear away heat. Make tea every day to help clear away damp heat in the body.

Ingredients: ginger, star anise, cinnamon and other spices, which have the effects of dispelling cold, dehumidification and sweating. When cooking every day, put a little warm to get rid of dampness.

Porridge: Poria cocos, Atractylodes macrocephala, millet and rice are also good choices in hot and humid seasons. Cook porridge every day to strengthen the spleen and nourish the stomach.

Soup: winter melon, red beans and ribs are boiled in proper amounts to clear away heat and promote diuresis.

Children or people with long-term weakness of spleen and stomach, if they feel bored all over, or feel full, abdominal distension and diarrhea, can use fried yam and fried chicken's gizzard-membrane, mix them into powder according to the ratio of 1: 1, and drink a spoonful every day to relieve symptoms.
