As can be seen from the table, the national standard also has certain requirements for the ambient temperature after the computer is shut down. Because the environmental temperature changes too much, contact failure will occur between connectors, and the solder joints between components and circuit boards will also crack due to thermal expansion and cold contraction. After the computer enters a warm environment from a cold environment, it takes a period of adaptation to boot. Otherwise, condensation will occur. These small water droplets attached to the surface of circuit board or components will corrode components and circuit board, and even cause short circuit failure. According to statistics, every time the temperature exceeds the normal temperature 10℃, the reliability of the computer will decrease by 25%. It seems no joke that computers should also be protected from freezing.

As far as components are concerned, they can be divided into three levels: military, industrial and civil, according to the different use places and requirements. The price difference of equipment with the same function but different grades is several times. The main difference lies in its ability to resist harsh environment. If components with poor low-temperature characteristics are used on computer circuit boards, they can only enter the normal state after preheating for a period of time.

Some computers' power fans whimper as soon as they are turned on in winter, and the noise gradually weakens after a period of use. This is because the lubricating oil in the fan bearing is too viscous in winter, which leads to increased resistance. When the ambient temperature rises, the fault will disappear by itself. Similarly, when the ambient temperature of the hard disk is very low, due to the solidification of the lubricant in the bearing, the disk will not turn because of the large resistance, resulting in the failure of "hard disk not found".
