According to Master Jinyun, the pair of stone lions originated in the early Ming Dynasty and have lived in Fahua downstairs of the temple for hundreds of years, guarding the Buddhist temple day and night. During the Cultural Revolution, the pair of stone lions were secretly poached and sold for money. They were found in Zhenjiang Museum 1985. After six years of negotiations, the stone lions were finally returned to Long Shao Temple at 199 1, and now they are the treasures of the town temple.

Some people say it may be because of the special material of stone lions.
