Visit the White Horse Temple in Jincheng, Shanxi, and write a 350-word composition
"White Horse Temple Mountain" is a very awkward name. It stands to reason that both mountains and temples should have their own names, but because mountains have existed since human history and temples were built later, people are usually used to calling temples on mountains by their names. For example, the temple on the top of Jueshan Mountain, which is quite famous far and near, is called Zhenwu Temple. However, for convenience, people used to call this temple Jueshan, but never called Jueshan Zhenwu Temple. Baimasi Mountain is called Baimasi Mountain because there is a Baimasi Mountain. Don't you think this name is a bit awkward? A mountain is not a mountain and a temple is not a temple?
Why does this mountain use such an awkward name? Doesn't he have a name? Otherwise, this mountain already has its own name, which is called Sima Mountain. The Annals of Zezhou compiled during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty recorded: "Sima Mountain is ten miles north of the city." The "Zezhou County Records" compiled during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty records: "Sima Mountain is ten miles north of the county seat. Wei Sima Yi sealed Changping Hou and wanted to climb this mountain. " He also quoted Local Conditions and Customs, Sima Shan in Jincheng, A Record of Beginners, and The Temple of Jin Dynasty is here because it is famous. Here tell us two facts: First, Sima Yi, the State of Wei in the Three Kingdoms, was named Hou of Changping and once climbed this mountain; Second, Sima established the Jin Dynasty and became an emperor, so people built a temple for Sima Yi, the ancestor of the emperor, on this mountain. At that time, this mountain was called Sima Mountain.
Having said that, some people will ask: Since the name Sima Shan existed in the Jin Dynasty, and it is also found in ancient famous literature books such as Local Records, Notes on Beginners, and it is also clearly recorded in Zezhou Records in the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty and Zezhou Records in the Yongzheng Period of the Qing Dynasty, why is this mountain not called Sima Shan now, but skillfully used such an awkward name as "White Horse Temple Mountain"? I think this question is a bit too profound, I'm afraid only God knows! Why is it called "White Horse Temple Mountain"? Don't ask, but writing an article is a rigorous thing, but you can't be hasty. So I want to make a statement here. Because the original name of this mountain is Sima Mountain, which has its historical and cultural origins, I will not use the awkward name of "Baima Temple Mountain" in the following narrative, and write Sima Mountain directly.
On this day, the weather was fine and the blue sky was cloudless. When we came to the foot of Sima Mountain, we looked up to the top of the mountain and saw a white cloud hanging in the place where the mountain meets the sky. At first, we didn't care too much. As we approached, we saw where it was. This is a huge white sculpture. Soon, judging from the outline of the sculpture and the name of "White Horse Temple Mountain", this is a soaring white horse. The horse held his head high, stood on his hind legs, and his front legs were flat, as if to pounce. At this moment, a companion said loudly, "This is not a horse. Look at the horse's head, it's obviously a bird's mouth! " "When I take a closer look, I can see that the horse's neck is thick, but the horse's head is thin and sharp, much like a bird's head with a slender mouth. Alas! I don't know which lame sculptor made such a bad work of horse body and bird head, which made people feel worse and worse. I just don't want to watch it anymore.
It doesn't matter if you don't want to see it again, but you have to say it, because this sculpture marks the culture of the so-called "White Horse Temple Mountain"! There is a rumor in Jincheng that "Confucius entered the car in the south and the white horse pulled the reins in the north". Needless to say, "Confucius got into the car." Jincheng people are almost household names, but the "white horse dragging the reins" is puzzling. Therefore, some people with a heart try to make the word "White Horse Pulls the rein" reasonable, and attach a lot of folklore stories about "Prince Charming", which are very serious and vivid. However, at first glance, these so-called "folk stories" do not come from the people, but from the improvisation of modern literati. Because the word "Prince Charming" is imported, not made in China, it is difficult to integrate with the ancient culture with a long history in China, and it is also difficult to make a reasonable explanation of "White Horse Pulling the rein" in line with China's traditional cultural concept. So why does "White Horse" pull the reins here, and what does it mean? We can only turn to historical documents.
Shanxi Tongzhi, compiled during Chenghua period of Ming Dynasty, said: "Baima Temple is located on Sima Mountain, ten miles northeast of Zezhou City, so it was named after Baimatuo." Let's make it clear here that it is not a "white horse dragging the reins" at all, but a "white horse carrying the scriptures". It is natural that the word "Tujing" is gradually mistaken for "Tujing" through word of mouth, but I don't know how many people have been mistaken. Seriously, I'm used to pulling the reins, and it's really hard to turn around if I want to change it to "carry the tripod" at once. On the other hand, whether you turn around or not, history is like this, and you can't help it. When you turn the corner, look at this sculpture called White Horse. It was a strange bird holding its head high and pulling the reins, which didn't mean "carrying the scriptures" at all. Do you find it ridiculous?
Near noon, we finally came to the White Horse Temple. The White Horse Temple in history should be just an ordinary temple. The Ming Wanli Zezhou Annals only recorded the words "Sima Mountain in the north of the city, built by the state", while the Qing Yongzheng Zezhou Annals only wrote the words "Sima Mountain in the north of the city, built by the Ming Dynasty". Qinglian temple and Robbie Temple in Jincheng were very famous in ancient times, leaving us many famous inscriptions and inscriptions. However, apart from these extremely brief descriptions in local chronicles, it is difficult to find any relevant documents in Baima Temple. In A.D. 1939, the Japanese invaders aimed their cannons at this small temple. The Buddha Sakyamuni, Master Guanyin, Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha and their eighteen arhats, who have always been pampered in the temple, watched helplessly as the small temple and their statues turned into a miserable scorched earth, but Buddhism, which was called "boundless" by all beings, could not be displayed. What is hateful is that even a broken monument was not spared under the fire of Japanese devils, and cigarettes were broken here from then on.
After the establishment of Jincheng, everything is thriving, showing a thriving new atmosphere everywhere. Baima Temple will be rebuilt on scorched earth. I remember that in the mid-1990s, the abbot of Baima Temple asked Mr. Yuan Yiren to write an inscription. The old man went to the White Horse Temple, where some temples have been built. When he came back, he praised, "What a great tolerance! I don't know how big the newly built White Horse Temple is now! " Ten years have passed, and the White Horse Temple is still under construction. The main buildings have all been completed. The Heavenly King Hall, Ursa Mahayana Hall, Jade Buddha Hall, and the Tibetan Scripture Building are not only resplendent, but also filled with cigarettes. There are five white marble Buddha statues in the Jade Buddha Hall, which are said to have been imported from Myanmar more than ten years ago. Needless to say, it was naturally sky-high at that time. Modern technology has also come in handy here. Many Buddha statues in Buddhist temples are equipped with electrical equipment behind them, which can continuously radiate dazzling light, adding a bit of solemnity and mystery to these ignorant and incompetent Buddha statues. The recording of Amitabha Namo played in the temple can be seen everywhere, which is very beautiful. I don't know which star's masterpiece or bel canto is in the entertainment circle!
We don't like to worship Buddha all the time, but we just hang our hands in front of the golden Buddha, which is very disharmonious compared with the good men and women who worship in groups. However, I know that the Buddha's measurement is great and he can tolerate things that are intolerable in the world. Think about it. In the face of Japanese artillery bombardment, the Buddha can tolerate it. Will it tolerate our arrogance? Seeing that the stone pillars around the Hall of the Great Hero were engraved with couplets of seal script, I wanted to go forward and watch them carefully. Unexpectedly, the words of modern civilization such as "national unity" and "world peace" bumped into my eyes, and my poor curiosity suddenly vanished. Discouraged, we sat down and took a nap on the steps in front of the king's hall.
At this moment, an old monk standing on the steps came to talk to us. The old monk has a thin face, neat clothes and hats, and looks very energetic and talkative. He said he was from Qiantang, so he signed the bill here temporarily. When talking about the huge cost of the White Horse Temple project, the old monk smiled and said, "It's easy. Official behavior, a word, is a word. " The old monk deliberately repeated a "sentence" to emphasize that no matter how difficult it is, it is so easy to say a word as long as it is official behavior. *.& ltL:)\n7Sd=
Say goodbye to the Buddha, leave the White Horse Temple, go downhill and walk briskly. It's not a word, but it's much easier than going up the mountain. At this time, it suddenly occurred to me that someone said that "Jincheng is a city without culture" on the grounds that there was no municipal library in Jincheng for more than 20 years. Some people also called loudly for this, asking politicians to pay attention to cultural construction and set up a municipal library as soon as possible. Thought of here, I can't help wondering, haven't these people been to White Horse Temple? Isn't this White Horse Temple the culture of Jincheng? Isn't the tall and majestic Tibetan Scripture Building of Baima Temple a good library?
