Marcand is located in the middle of Aba Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, the northwest of Sichuan Basin, the east of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the north of Qionglai Mountains, belonging to the plateau canyon area.
