Hook clouds are called hook clouds in meteorology, and broom clouds, ponytail clouds and feather clouds refer to cirrus clouds. These two kinds of clouds are often generated in the front or trough of low pressure. In these weather system areas, the convergent airflow is very strong, and the updraft is strong enough to lift warm and humid air to high altitude to form high clouds. At the same time, the high-altitude wind is very strong, blowing water vapor along the direction of airflow, forming hook clouds and cirrus clouds.

Therefore, the appearance of hook-cirrus clouds and cirrus clouds indicates the coming of weather systems such as frontal or low pressure, and is a harbinger of stormy weather.
