Yuan Hongdao, the author of the classical Chinese "You De Shan Ji"
In the summer of the thirty-second year of Ming Shenzong Wanli (1604), I went to spend the summer with the monks Han Hui, Leng Yun, Zhang Mingjiao, the young monk Zhi and my younger brother, and made an appointment to visit Deshan after the autumn was cool. By the beginning of August, the summer heat was fading and I went to Huangshan for minor repairs. I happened to meet a boat and set out with some monks. 14, we set sail from Mengqian, 15 night, we enjoyed the moon in Mahu. Mahu Lake is connected with Dongting Lake, and you can enjoy the moon all your life, even this time. /kloc-arrive at the old Longtan at the foot of Deshan Mountain in the early morning of 0/7. Seen from the riverside, Mount Deshan is like a fist, and lush forests are faintly visible. Stop the boat ashore, along the coast, there is a winding alley, and the shade on the cliff bank blocks the sun. There is a hill, like an overturned jar, completely covered with trees, and its roots are exposed like thin arms. Climbing up the stone wall, there is a ravine between the two mountains, and in front of you is Mrs. Jasmine's Ghost Palace Road. The courtyard with stupa is located behind the ravine, with its back to the peak and facing the rising cliff. Many ancient trees are lush. There are fields inside and outside the temple, and the two hills seem to be out of courtesy. At first, the retreat was a stream, followed by monasteries and fields Finally, the retreat is more prominent, the terrain is flatter, the momentum of the two mountains is more stretched, and the houses where monks live are built here. Entering the temple gate, there are many ancient Chinese fir and pine and cypress. The hall is tall and spacious, and the Buddha statue is also very high, just like the ruins of Epang Palace. Anyone who has seen it knows that this is not the place where the emperor lived after the Han Dynasty. Turn right from the side of the main hall, and there are many graceful arrowheads, which are blocked by deep cliffs. Turning uphill is the top of the lonely peak, and there is a good rolling altar on the top. Osmanthus fragrans is in full bloom on the cliff, and its fragrance permeates Shan Ye. There are several shabby houses on it, which are disappointing and almost come down the mountain. However, seeing the scene on the altar of a good scroll is full of interest. Looking from the scorching sun, I found shelter in the shade for a while, and then walked on. Water and light set off the emerald peak, and I had a panoramic view. If there is an elegant person with a unique vision who can tear down those broken houses on the mountain and build a pavilion or porch with railings in that far place, it will become an excellent scenery in Deshan. But most of the monks in the temple have never been to the exquisite and beautiful places in the mountains, and even if they arrive, they can't appreciate its beauty. I explored the wonders of the mountains with all the monks. A quiet and spacious place like Sanguilin can be used for building houses, a pavilion can be built on the cliff on the left side of qinglian temple, and a high platform or pavilion can be built next to the quiet room where monks live in the west of the Dharma Hall. Not to mention the deep and quiet beauty here, there are hundreds of ancient camphor trees and dense bamboo in that mountain, which can't be seen anywhere else. Behind Mount Deshan, facing Sun Mountain, is an empty and wide space. Yuan river flows in front of you, and you can see the city walls, fields and cottages. The transpiration fog in the mountains overflows the rippling water waves. If developed and built, it can become a famous large-scale temple. If virtuous Buddhism thrives again, it should be more than just a post where monks stopped. Going to Deshan for two days, the viewing is almost over. The two dragons drank the wine from the boat and enjoyed it until they got together for three days and nights. After leaving, the hot weather suddenly came. I stopped at Deshan to discuss Zen with my brothers. I am so happy that I can't describe it. It was not until September 6 that I went to Changde to pay a return visit to two Mr. Long. Deshan was originally a place where Xuanjian Zen masters discussed Taoism in the Tang Dynasty. The wind and the sound of running water in the Woods seemed to be competing to interpret the scene of laying out arguments and paying tribute to his portrait, and he was unconsciously inspired to make a sharp talk. Two Mr. Long, the older one is Cao Jun, and this one is Ju Xiaolian. The younger one, who works in the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, has a long friendship with our brothers and is a celebrity of Qi Wei.
