What happened to the yellow leaves of geranium? How to solve it?
First, the cutting time of geranium
The best cutting time of geranium is autumn. In principle, cutting can be carried out in all seasons except summer, but autumn is the best. Because after vigorous growth in spring and early summer, geranium plants are full again, after semi-dormancy in cool summer, with the cooling of the weather, they are full of vitality, and the branches are the strongest at this time.
Second, geranium cutting preparation
Different from the common cutting operation, the cutting of geranium needs a cutting preparation process. Choose the robust branches that grew in that year, find a branch below 10 cm, and gently carve a ring groove at two centimeters below the branch with scissors. Don't cut, pay attention to balance the weight, avoid cutting, and don't cut too deep, otherwise it will also break when touched and blown, so that the branch can continue to grow on the mother for two to three weeks.
Thirdly, cutting propagation of geranium.
(1) Cutting container: It is the same as the ordinary cutting operation here, except that a transparent disposable plastic cup is selected as the cutting container, because the transparent cup is convenient for observing the rooting of cutting branches. Poke three small holes in the bottom of the cup with a bamboo stick before filling the soil, which is beneficial to drainage and ventilation. Fill the wet culture soil into a transparent plastic water cup, compact it, and prepare the cutting container and culture medium.
(2) Cutting method: Cut the pre-selected cuttings from the engraved ring groove with scissors. After two or three weeks, the wound was completely dry and the branches were still alive. Without drying in the shade, directly insert the branches into the soil to ensure that there are one or two branches under the soil. After the cutting is completed, it can take root around the shade. During this period, when the soil is completely dry, it should be watered, but not too wet.
① Low temperature
It is normal that the old leaves at the base often turn yellow naturally and finally fall off. The outdoor temperature is too low, affecting the growth of leaves, which may turn yellow and finally fall off. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the temperature above 10 degrees when breeding and at least above 9 degrees at night, so as not to freeze the yellow leaves. This is the best way to keep warm indoors.
② High temperature
Under extreme high temperature, the leaves will lose water and turn yellow, anxious and dry, and the high temperature is often dry, so the roots can't absorb water. If it is serious, the whole plant will dry up. The solution is to move indoors for maintenance at high temperature, preferably in a cool and ventilated place. After the occurrence of yellow leaves, iron supplementation can alleviate it.
③ Fertilization.
Sometimes too many times of topdressing, too much fertilization and too high soil concentration inhibit root absorption and hurt root system, which is directly manifested as yellowing of leaves; However, without fertilization for a long time, the plants lacked nutrition and the leaves could not be supplied at the beginning. The best way to fertilize is to fertilize regularly, once, without fertilization. Appropriate amount of fertilizer, a small amount in summer, dissolved a lot of water before use.
④ Humidity
If in the process of planting, the leaves grow poorly after high temperature and humidity, excessive watering and excessive humidity, root rot and infection. Lack of water is easy to dry up. As long as you keep enough water, don't water it every day, about once every 3 to 4 days, there will be no water accumulation. If there is no water, the roots will not rot.
⑤ Harmful biological hazards
Infected with pests and diseases, some of which may cause leaves to turn yellow. Infected bacteria usually invade from roots or spread through soil. Some bugs may be carried by the soil or brought in from outside. It is best to change the soil in time after believing in illness, clean the roots and containers with liquid medicine, and disinfect the soil for later use. Pests should be caught in time, sprayed with chemicals and irrigated with chemicals.
The yellowing of geranium leaves is generally caused by external factors, but there are also cases of internal malnutrition. As long as the nutrition is satisfied, it must be cultivated in a suitable environment. Pay attention to the seasonal changes, and it will not be a big problem if it is properly protected.
