Pu Xian Tower was built at the top of Xiangshan Mountain, which vividly embodies the Buddhist saying that Pu Xian rode an elephant. The whole tower looks like Aquarius, also known as Aquarius Tower. In many Asian countries, the elephant is a symbol of good luck, while the elephant with the Aquarius symbolizes peace, beauty and happiness.
Songzi Guanyin statue
On the cliff behind Yunfeng Temple at the southern foot of Elephant Trunk Mountain, there is a "Songzi Guanyin" niche in Tang Dynasty, which has a history of 1000 years and is the only colorful cliff statue in Guilin. More precisely, it is called "the statue of the great mother". The main image is the great mother Li Di, dressed in fine clothes and wearing a crown, holding a child in her hands on her lap, sitting on the lotus table with a flame and headlights behind her. On both sides of the main statue, there is a waitress wearing a bun and a long-sleeved robe. Two children stood on the left and right outside the niche, bowing.
It is said that there was a beautiful cowherd girl in Shecheng, the king of ancient India, who could sing and dance well. When a grand gathering was held to celebrate the birth of Du Juefo, 500 people at the meeting knew that Niulang was pregnant, but forced her to dance. It caused her fetus to fall to the ground and die, and was later abandoned by her husband. Full of grief, she vowed to be reincarnated in the next life, ate all the children in the city and committed suicide. Later, she was reincarnated as the king's Shecheng, the daughter of the fork medicine god, a begging woman named "Big Mother". She married Gaja, the devil's half-son, and gave birth to 500 sons. Holiday's mother was originally an evil god, the mother of 500 demons, commonly known as "ghost mother". She never forgets to eat other people's children's vows every day, so she is also called "evil mother".
This incident alarmed Sakyamuni. In order to save the innocent children in Wang Shecheng, he decided to educate Gui Mu with compassion. Sakyamuni hurriedly advised her, but she didn't listen at all and didn't want to change from evil to good. Seeing that persuasion failed, Sakyamuni had a plan. When she went out to eat other people's children, she hid her favorite one of her 500 sons. When the ghost mother came back, she found a child missing, and she missed it very much. She cried all day. Sakyamuni took the opportunity to educate her and said, "You should take care of your heart. You have 500 children, and it is so sad to lose only one. You eat other people's children every day. Can parents stand it? "Ghost mother wakes up like a dream, repents, and never eats other people's children again. From then on, she changed from evil to good, and also protected the growth of all children in the world. She later converted to Buddhism and became a protector. People respected her ability to repent and built a memorial hall for her. As a prolific mother, China people often regard Gui Mu as the goddess of mercy to protect their children, so they often worship Gui Mu as the "goddess of farewell" or "goddess of mercy".
