The "dangerous road" on the cliff is a legendary landscape on Taihang Mountain.

In Huixian County, Henan Province, deep in Taihang Mountain, there is a quaint and exquisite mountain village named Guo Liang Village. This village is located on a scenic cliff, which is a part of Wan Xianshan Scenic Area.

Starting from the county seat, Guo Liang Village can be reached in an hour's drive. And everyone who comes to Guo Liang Village will be shocked by a landscape hanging on the cliff, that is Guoliangdong.

Guoliangdong is not a cave, but a highway, which is the only way to Guo Liang Village.

Hanging from a 90-degree vertical cliff and winding through hard red rocks, this road is one of the most dangerous roads in the world.

Why build a road on the cliff?

The reason is simple, and it is convenient to communicate with the outside world.

As mentioned earlier, Guo Liang Village is located on a cliff. The continuous Taihang mountain range, like a natural barrier, blocks the village from the mountains.

In the past, people used to rely on an ancient road to get in and out of the mountains. The ancient road was built on Baizhang Cliff behind the village. Only one person can walk through it. Like an abyss. Because it is extremely steep, it is called "ladder" by locals.

In the case of "ladder", let alone driving, you should be careful even if you leave with the goods. In case of rain and snow, something will happen if you are not careful.

At that time, it was difficult for people to go out to do business, see a doctor and send their children to school.

In the 1970s, in order to change this situation, Guo put forward a bold idea to dig a tunnel road leading to the mountain outside the cliff.

In that era when materials were extremely scarce, faced with steep cliffs, hard rocks and no modern construction tools, what should we do?

Use your hands! Guo vowed to get through this "precipice road" with one pair of hands.

At that time, the labor force in Guo Liang Village was less than 90 people. The strong young people in the village spontaneously formed the "Thirteen Strong Men" commando team, which acted as pioneers in opening the way.

1972 On the day of "The Dragon Raises its Head on February 2", a mountain gun exploded. With the most primitive technology and tools, men swung hammers and started the day of opening the mountain.

The hammers broke one after another, and the blood bubbles on the hands were worn out and started again until they were ground into thick cocoons.

Road construction depends not only on strength, but also on materials, tools and explosives.

To this end, the villagers sold their property, goats and trees planted at home to raise money to buy materials.

In the third year, new difficulties came again. There is not much money left in the village, and all the food has been eaten up. No way, the villagers had to temporarily stop and do odd jobs in neighboring counties, and the money they earned was used to build roads.

In this way, in five years, a cliff corridor "Guo" with a length of 1250 m, a width of 6 m and a height of 4 m and 35 skylights was finally opened, and Guo was connected with the outside world, ending his isolated life.

Later, according to statistics, the "Guoliangdong" project was opened to clean up 24,000 cubic meters of stone slag. 12 tons of steel was used to make tools such as steel drills, and more than 2,000 broken hammers were used.

Known as "one of the top ten dangerous roads in the world", "one of the strange roads in the 18th National Congress of the World" and "the ninth wonder in the world", this "Guo" tells the world the story of Guo's courage, tenacity and perseverance.

"Tian Xingjian, the gentleman is constantly striving for self-improvement." Guo used his own practice to create a miracle on earth and explained the spirit of self-improvement in contemporary society.

Nowadays, students, painters, photographers and travelers from all over the world will be found on stone roadsides, steep cliffs and winding caves in Guo Liang.

The collection of these figures is the result of unremitting self-improvement and hard work of the people of the country. With the spirit of perseverance and being the first, they wrote legends on the majestic Taihang Mountain.
