Journey to America 3- Boston
Our trip to the United States starts from the west coast and ends at the east coast, so after the trip to Los Angeles and San Francisco, we set off from Los Angeles and took United Airlines flight to Boston, the capital of Massachusetts. As I said before, the most important thing in this trip to the United States is to accompany my children to the United States to experience the educational atmosphere and school environment of American universities. At that time, the child was still in high school in Melbourne, Australia, and planned to continue his undergraduate education in Australia, and then come to the United States to study for graduate students.
We arrived in Los Angeles on December 11th, stayed around the west coast for a week, and then arrived in Boston on December 18th. The first feeling is cold! When we left Los Angeles, the temperature reached more than 2 degrees, and when we arrived in Boston, it was MINUS 1 degrees, and we were caught in heavy snow, which suddenly plunged us into the ice cave.
It's already evening when I arrived in Boston. It's a five-hour flight from the westernmost part of the United States across to the easternmost part of the United States, and it also crosses the time zone, from western time to eastern time. We actually saw a publicity page of a Chinese restaurant in the reserved hotel. Boston lobster has been known for a long time, so we quickly ordered takeout, which was very cheap. It was only $25 each, and it made a lot of money. Three people spent more than $5 on a lobster dinner.
I had a night's rest, got up the next morning and immediately booked an online car. Then I returned my room and dragged my luggage to the door of the hotel. We will only stay in Boston for one day, and the next afternoon we will catch a bus from Boston to new york, the last stop of this trip.
After a while, the Internet car arrived as scheduled. We explained our itinerary to the driver, basically asking the driver to take us to visit MIT and Harvard University, then take us to visit the downtown area of Boston, and finally take us to the bus terminal.
The driver's brother was very excited when he heard our introduction. He said that he is a staff member of MIT, and now he happens to be a network car driver during school holidays. He can be a free guide for us. We are very grateful to Wan Li for coming all the way to visit his school. We soon arrived at the "Massachusetts Institute of Technology" under his leadership. Because of the heavy snow, the road was very difficult to walk, but this brother really enthusiastically introduced the history and famous buildings of MIT. Later, he took us to the nearby Harvard University campus, but told us that you would wander around here and call him when you were finished, and he would come and pick us up. It can be seen that he doesn't have any good feelings for Harvard at all. It's really beyond our expectation to keep saying how excellent MIT is. This dedication really surprises us.
We walked around the campus of Harvard University. Although it was a holiday, there were still many pedestrians. The red walls on the campus after the snow set off the snow, which was extraordinarily enchanting and divided into tranquility. At the sight of those famous names, such as law school and medical school, it really feels like a dream come true.
This is our first visit to the United States. We have already seen the famous California Institute of Technology and Stanford University on the west coast. Today, we visited Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the two best universities in the United States and even the world, which gave me the impression that the United States is actually not a country with an equal society, and the gap between the rich and the poor is too large and the ethnic relations are complicated. But to be fair, American universities are relatively equal's society. No matter whether you are rich or not, as long as you are talented, the best university gate still beckons to you. Moreover, no matter how old the infrastructure of this city is, the universities here must be the most beautiful environment and the most solemn and beautiful buildings. Americans have spared no effort in education, especially in elite education.
after leaving Harvard university campus, we took a cursory look at the scenery of downtown Boston. What caught our eyes was that the city has both classical and modern aspects, and it is an important part of the origin and development of the United States.
due to time constraints and bad weather, our trip to Boston was not a satisfactory one, and there were many regrets. I will definitely visit this city again in the future, and it must be in summer or early autumn. Winter in Boston is really uncomfortable, and we southerners are really not used to such a cold winter. But this city is not only a city of education, but also famous Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox. Boston is really charming, and I personally think it is one of the best cities in the United States after San Francisco.
