1. Collection of cicada eggs: When the weather is clear, female cicadas mostly lay eggs on branches of leafy willows and apple trees, especially on white wicker. Picking dead branches by hand can be used as seedlings to hatch cicada larvae. There are about 50 cicada eggs in an egg branch. 2 to 3 egg branches can be planted per square meter.

2. Site selection: The location for burying the egg branches should be willow forest, old apple orchard and wicker-covered floodplain. The soil quality requires no desertification, hardening, ants and rodents; In the loose and humid loam area, it is also appropriate to choose the place where cicadas appeared more last year as the place to bury eggs.

3. Embedding branches: White willow seedlings can be dug in the riverside or wet fields, and planted in loose loam fields with a spacing of 35 cm and a row spacing of 90 cm, with 2,300 plants per mu. Between the two rows of white wicker, the ditch is 3 cm deep and the egg branches are buried 9 cm. You can also be in the willow forest and the old apple orchard. It is 2 meters away from the trunk and the ditch is 9 cm deep. It can be buried in egg branches and covered with soil.

4. Feeding management: After cicada eggs are buried underground, attention should be paid to drainage and waterlogging prevention in rainy season. Water wicker, willow or apple trees in dry days. At the same time, we should topdressing farmyard manure to promote lush growth, provide sufficient nutrition sources for young cicadas, make young cicadas grow vigorously, increase individuals and increase yield. We should guard against human and animal trampling and natural enemies such as ants and mice.

5. Harvesting and processing: After burying the egg branches for 2 to 3 years, cicadas will gradually grow and mature. The harvest period is usually from summer solstice to Sunday every year. In case of soaking in rain, the plump cicada can easily start to drill out of the ground at four or five in the morning, or drill out of the ground at any time after the rain stops, so it will quickly look for wicker or trunk to grab the line. After 2 to 4 hours, it will shed its skin and become a cicada.

According to this characteristic of cicadas, if there is no rain and drought after the summer solstice every year, the farmland can be artificially watered to attract cicadas to be unearthed. Before the cicada is unearthed or matured, a circle of smooth plastic film can be wrapped on the trunk 30 cm above the ground, so that the cicada can't scratch the tree for harvesting.
