Wuyang Township is located in the northeast border of Hefeng County, 59 kilometers away from the county seat, bordering Niuzhuang Township of Wufeng County, Yichang City, and adjacent to Guandian Town of Jianshi County and Jinguoping Township of Badong County, commonly known as "one foot and three counties".

Wuyang Township governs 16 villages and 148 villagers' groups, with a total population of 16687 people. The total land area of the township is 196 square kilometers, of which the cultivated land area is 19062 mu. There are four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall here. The annual precipitation is more than 1500mm, and the frost-free period is more than 280 days. The highest altitude is 1849m, and the lowest altitude is 375m. Many rivers, such as Xianying River, Yuejiahe River and Gao Qiao River, meet Qingjiang River here, with large water flow, which can develop hydropower resources of 50,000 kilowatts. Rich in mineral resources, there are 3.3 million tons of Fenghuang Coal Mine, Sanyuan Coal Mine and Jinji Coal Mine, as well as rich reserves of Hongyanhe and Lizi Iron Mines.

There are many kinds of animals and plants, rich in tea, chestnut, konjac, brown slices and other specialties, as well as various precious Chinese herbal medicines such as Codonopsis pilosula, Gastrodia elata, Coptis chinensis, Eucommia ulmoides, Cortex Phellodendri, Angelica sinensis, Radix Dipsaci, Radix Aucklandiae, Papaya and Fritillaria. Animal husbandry is dominated by pigs, goats and pheasants; Wild animal resources are abundant, and there are many kinds of national protected animals, such as South China tiger, golden pheasant, roe deer, wild boar, muntjac, myna, grass carp, carp, rock bass, chubby and so on. The development area of chestnut in the township has now reached 32,000 mu, with an average per capita of nearly 2 mu. Wuyang tea has unique aroma, early picking season and strong market competitiveness. "Qilong" brand tea produced by Hefeng Qilong Tea Co., Ltd. is favored by consumers and is rated as a famous trademark in Hubei Province. By the end of 2006, there were 9,933 mu of tea gardens in the township, including clone tea garden10.5 million mu. The tobacco planting area is stable at about 3500 mu per year. The planting area of konjac is 6003 mu. In 2006, there were 19628 pigs and 2 188 goats.

In recent years, combined with the country's implementation of "whole village promotion", poverty alleviation and relocation, rural energy construction, rural road construction, radio and television, telephone "every village" and other engineering opportunities. Pay close attention to infrastructure construction and the development of various undertakings, and the production and living conditions in rural areas have been fundamentally improved. Farmers' income is constantly improving. In 2006, the total rural economic income of the township was 53.02 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers in the township reached 1559 yuan.
