Where is Huatuo Temple?
In the southeast of Zhengguo Town, Xiangcheng City, Henan Province, there is a village called Huatuo Temple, which is next to Shahe River. There is a tomb on the bank of Shahe River, called the tomb of ancient paintings. According to legend, the famous doctor Hua Tuo was buried here at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
Huatuo Temple is a temple built dozens of miles east of Zhengguo Town to commemorate Huatuo, a doctor of the Three Kingdoms. The temple covers an area of 48 mu and has three courtyards before and after, which has long since disappeared. Now there are three temples on the old site, covering an area of 200 square meters and surrounded by trees. People who usually come to burn incense and pray for blessings are in an endless stream. There is a temple fair on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, which is the peak of incense. Huatuo tomb site is located 0.5 km north of the temple. According to legend, at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the plague prevailed in Xiangcheng County. As it happens, Hua Tuo took several disciples Fan Ahe to the countryside to practice medicine and passed by here. They used earthwork to cure the patients in the local villages of Eastern Xia Lou and Xixiaolou, and controlled the epidemic situation in this area. People all call Hua Tuo "an imperial doctor". Later, Hua Tuo was invited by Cao Cao to treat "headache" and was eventually harmed by Cao Cao.
After Hua Tuo was killed, his disciples collected his body and prepared to transport it back to his hometown Qiao County (now Bozhou, Anhui Province) for burial. When the hearse arrived at the current Huatuosi Village in Xiangcheng County, it was caught in a rainstorm and it rained cats and dogs for several days. The hearse could not move forward and had to be suspended. The news reached the East Building and the West Building. People who were saved by Hua Tuo soon came here in droves, demanding that Hua Tuo be buried here. As soon as Fan left, other disciples began to refuse. Later, they thought that the weather would clear up, the temperature was high, the journey was still far, and they could not stay long without burial, so they agreed. Everyone began to bury a generation of imperial doctor Hua Tuo in a highland on the south bank of Shahe River. On the day of burial, men and women in Shiliba Village held a funeral for Hua Tuo. When piling soil, some were carried in baskets, some were carried in baskets, and some were wrapped in clothes. A big grave was piled for three days and three nights. People call it "Huatuo Tomb". Later generations built a temple for Huatuo in the south of the tomb, which later evolved into Huatuo Temple. The village where Siping lived was also named after "Huatuo Temple Village".
