The little turtle raised at home doesn't eat much these days. I don't know why. It's very cold.

This has nothing to do with the weather. Turtles only eat when the temperature is below 15. It may be ill.

White eye disease

Diagnosis: in the early stage of white eye disease, the eyes produce a small amount of secretions, inflammation, congestion and swelling. In the middle and late stage, conjunctiva is completely infected and adhered, corneal erosion, severe infection of instantaneous membrane, congestion, whitening, thickening, covering eyeball, closing eyes, refusing to eat or even drinking water, and mental fatigue.

Treatment:

1, mild to moderate infection, chloramphenicol eye drops every hour during the day and erythromycin eye ointment at night. Oral azithromycin.

2, serious infection, it is recommended to use antibiotics for injection. Chloramphenicol eye drops and erythromycin eye ointment for external use.

Advice: Never try to peel off and cut off the bloodshot, white and thickened white membrane covering the eyeball with a blade, because it is the instantaneous membrane in the turtle's eyes.

When necessary (4 or 5 days after injection of antibiotics), smooth tweezers can be used to gently scrape off and clip off the yellow pus or abscess on the surface of conjunctiva and blink membrane, which is not easy to be discharged by itself. When cleaning the yellow pus or abscess between the instant membrane and the cornea, the cleaning method of pushing, squeezing and clamping should be adopted, and the operation must be extra careful. The infectious, bloodshot, whitish and thickened transient membrane covering the eyeball will gradually return to normal under the action of antibiotics.

Rotting nails

Diagnosis: There are white spots or small pinholes on the tortoise shell or abdominal shell, some of them have slag-like substances, and some of them are soft. In severe cases, it will give off a rancid smell and fester into holes. (rotten nails with yellow edges are not easy to detect in the early stage, and they are very serious when there is a rotten smell. )

Treatment:

1, mild onychomycosis (superficial onychomycosis)

Remove floating dead nails and residue samples with toothpicks, clean and disinfect with hydrogen peroxide, and apply erythromycin eye ointment.

Dry culture for two weeks, soak in water two or three times a day, dry the turtle after leaving the water, clean and disinfect it with hydrogen peroxide, and apply erythromycin eye ointment.

2. Moderate and severe nail rot

Some turtles exude a rancid smell, and some need a zero distance to smell a faint rancid smell.

If there are floating dead nails and slag samples, pick them off with a toothpick or peel them off with a disinfection blade, clean them with hydrogen peroxide and apply potassium permanganate powder. If you don't have dry conditions, seal it with vaseline and protect it with a band-aid.

Moderate infection: oral cefadroxil is recommended. The course of treatment is 7- 10 days.

Serious infection: there is obvious rancid smell or perforation, so it is recommended to use antibiotics for injection. The course of treatment is 7- 10 days.

Suggestion: Don't make a fuss about the soft part of the bone plate caused by bacterial infection. Brutal excavation is undoubtedly worse.

Rotting skin

Diagnosis: Soft-shelled turtle skin is white and ulcerated, and the skin is cracked when the ulceration is serious.

Treatment: After applying iodine, apply erythromycin eye ointment. Dry culture for two weeks, soak in water two or three times a day, dry the turtle after leaving the water, and repeat the treatment process. For seriously ill turtles, oral antibiotics are needed.
