Natural conditions of Yinpingshan Forest Park

(1) Geology and landform

Yinpingzui Mountain, located in the southeast of Yinpingshan Nature Reserve, is the highest peak in Dongguan, and the main mountain runs from east to west.

The overall terrain of the nature reserve gradually drops from Yinzui-Baiyunzhang in the southeast, Doufutou-Makengshan Township-Changshan Peak in the southwest (all above 700 meters above sea level) to Shigu Reservoir in the north (altitude 103 meters), and the whole nature reserve forms a funnel-shaped rainwater collection area in the north.

The mother rock of the nature reserve is granite, and the soil type changes with the altitude of the mountain: lateritic red soil below 600 meters above sea level and yellow soil above 600 meters above sea level.

(2) Climate and hydrology

Yinpingshan Nature Reserve is located in the south of the Tropic of Cancer and belongs to subtropical monsoon climate. It has the characteristics of long summer without winter, abundant sunshine, abundant rainfall, sufficient heat and mild climate. The annual average temperature is between 265438 0℃ and 22℃. In a year, the lowest temperature in June is 5438+ 10, with an average of 13℃- 14℃. The highest average temperature in July is between 27-28℃, and the annual rainfall is 1, 767.8 mm, mostly from April to September. The annual average relative humidity is 79%; The main disastrous weather includes: low temperature and rainy weather in February and March; /kloc-the cold dew wind around 0/0; The most serious impact on Dongguan is the typhoon, which is usually concentrated in July-August. There are also droughts and frosts in spring and autumn.

In this area, the mountain stream flowing from the sedan chair park in the west of Baiyun Zhang to Shigu Reservoir is the mainstream, which runs through most areas of the nature reserve. Rivers in this area crisscross. Due to the large gap between streams, many multi-level waterfalls have been formed, which are very spectacular. Most of the streams flow to the northwest and northeast, and finally merge into Shigu Reservoir in the north of the reserve. Shigu Reservoir has a storage capacity of 665,438+10,000 cubic meters, providing drinking water and farmland irrigation for Xiegang Town in Dongguan and Lilin Town in Huiyang City.
