Climate in Taipei basin

Taipei has a warm and humid climate, which belongs to a subtropical maritime climate. But the urban area is located in the center of the basin and surrounded by mountains, so it has some characteristics of continental climate. In addition, the summer climate is greatly affected by typhoons. When typhoons cross the border, accompanied by heavy rains, when heavy rains and flash floods in the surrounding mountainous areas pour down along rivers and streams and gather in the center of Taipei, they often cause floods. It is nothing new that the streets and alleys are prosperous and the streets and alleys set sail. In recent years, after the river embankment projects of various streams have been reinforced one after another, although the situation has improved, floods are still a major threat to people's lives and economic construction. There are many rainy days in Taipei, and the visibility is low. There are only four or five sunny days in autumn from time to time in a year.

The famous Datun Volcano Group, towering and spectacular, stands in the north of Taipei. However, people rarely have the opportunity to see its true face. In the past 20 years, with the development of Taipei's industry, the number of factories around the urban area has increased, air pollution has been serious, and foggy days have also increased significantly.
