Climate in Taipei basin

Taipei has a warm and humid climate, which belongs to a subtropical maritime climate. But the urban area is located in the center of the basin and surrounded by mountains, so it has some characteristics of continental climate. In addition, the summer climate is greatly affected by typhoons. When typhoons cross the border, accompanied by heavy rains, when heavy rains and flash floods in the surrounding mountainous areas pour down along rivers and streams and gather in the center of Taipei, they often cause floods.
