How hot it is! TCM: Abnormal perspiration can be adjusted and improved.
It is very hot in summer, and many people sweat profusely as soon as they go out, especially on their heads and armpits. (Photo/Luo Huiwen) Summer is very hot, and people often feel a lot of sweat on their heads, armpits, palms and soles. Qiu Huifang, a Chinese medicine doctor in Taichung Hospital of the Department of Health of the Executive Yuan, explained that the head belongs to the confluence of the Sun Meridian, Shaoyang Meridian and Yangming Meridian, and the yang, energy and body temperature are higher than those of other parts of the body, so the temperature must be regulated by perspiration. Because the arm is often attached to the body, the underarm is poorly ventilated and the body temperature rises. The sweat glands in this part are developed, which is not only easy to sweat, but even stinks if the sweat is not dried in time.
The palm that is often opened and closed is breathable, and in principle there will be no problem of excessive sweating. However, if people hold their fists or pens for a long time, their palms may sweat from the sultry heat. In addition, abnormal sweat glands will lead to "hyperhidrosis" without any inducement. As for the soles with underdeveloped sweat glands, when the amount of perspiration increases, it is mostly caused by wearing shoes for a long time and being airtight.
In addition to the distribution of pores and sweat glands, other factors that affect the perspiration mechanism of human body include pore opening and closing function, body circulation system, whether or not people suffer from physiological diseases and so on.
Chinese medicine practitioners in Qiu Huifang say that people with poor pore opening and closing function can easily excrete water from their bodies and form a sweaty constitution. Hyperthyroidism patients tend to sweat more because of their fast metabolism; Menopausal women will be affected by hormones, and they often have night sweats and flushing. In addition, people who often go in and out of air-conditioned rooms repeatedly will suddenly sweat a lot when exposed to high temperature because their bodies have no time to adapt to the temperature difference. People with poor metabolic ability or poor qi and blood circulation function are prone to cause diseases due to less sweating.
From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, "sweat is the body fluid of the heart". Once the human body sweats abnormally, it not only means that the heart function may be damaged, but also sweat glands and autonomic nervous system may have health problems. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that people with poor pore opening and closing function can take Guizhi decoction or raw wheat drink to recuperate; People with poor body circulation or thermoregulation function are advised to exercise more to promote metabolism.
As to whether the abnormal sweating site represents a certain organ dysfunction, Qiu Huifang TCM said that TCM theory holds that human sweating is related to the five internal organs, the twelve meridians, qi, blood and body fluids, and it is suggested to treat it according to the individual's overall situation and then give it appropriate treatment.
