Zhao Puchu, president of the Buddhist Association, after deeply studying the birth, history and allusions of the Buddha, according to the legend that Sakyamuni was born in an elephant, he thought it was more accurate to name him Daxiangshan. Although there is only one word difference, it is homophonic, but it has far-reaching significance. Since then, Xiangshan landscape has been officially named Daxiangshan. 1981September 10, Gansu Provincial People's Government officially listed Daxiangshan Grottoes as provincial-level cultural relics protection units and allocated special funds for maintenance.
