Go down the river to pick up snails

At around four o'clock, the temperature dropped a lot. But it's still a bit hot, so don't care. I drove a tricycle down to the fields to see if there were any watermelons, and picked up some corn to take back to Shanghai.

The second sister rode a tricycle, passing fish ponds, large corn fields, and endless rice fields. When we came to the melon field, the melon seedlings were all withered, but we could still see the large and small watermelons that had fallen off the seedlings. My sister and brother-in-law went to the ground to pick a nylon bag. My little sister and I were in the corn field to check whether the corn was ripe. Only when the red tassels on the corn cobs are somewhat dry can they be peeled off. We walked to a piece of land, it was nice, it looked familiar, and I started to fight with my little sister.

Looking at these fresh and green corns reminds me of the hard work, happiness and harvest time in my childhood. At that time, several acres of land were cut off one by one, dried and beaten into corn kernels.

After sending the corn and watermelon home, we started to pick snails in the river. My sister and I put on rubber shoes and walked in the shallow water. We could see snails of all sizes, as big as conchs living in the sea. The two sisters carried baskets and buckets, like snail girls, looking and searching in the water. My brother-in-law carried the electric fish tool and knocked the fish unconscious in the net.

I have gained a lot. After I come back, I will follow the same methods as when I was a child. Wash it and blanch it in boiling water, then take out the snail meat and fry it with green pepper. It is very tough, chewy and delicious.

Although the weather is a bit hot and the wind is blowing where there is water, it is still bearable. The most important thing is to experience the experiences and complexes of childhood. It seems like I have returned to the carefree days of my childhood. This is something my little sister often did when she was little. On weekends, you and your friends can pick up baskets of snails. In an era of material scarcity, eating fried snails is very enjoyable.

The next morning, we drove back. The enthusiastic second sister prepared free-range roosters for us and put corn, pumpkins, and winter melons in the trunk. The ingenious second sister made fresh chili sauce, which is her specialty. Everything is prepared for us. I had some free-range eggs stored at home and gave them to my son.

The car started, and the second sister and brother-in-law saw us out of the door. They felt that we were coming and going in a hurry, and we still had more to say! My little sister and I were very satisfied, eating, drinking and holding. Sisterhood is so precious, family love is so indescribable. I am grateful to my sister and husband for their warm hospitality. It is the season of harvesting rice. They play with us and cook so many delicious foods for us.

It was a walk-in experience. When I got home, I prepared my son’s quilts and supplies for the start of school, and took my son to get his hair cut. Have a heart-to-heart talk with your mother-in-law, and chat with your daughter. Change the environment and continue to engage in life.
