What was Pinggu called in ancient times?

Pinggu is located in Panshan West, so it is called Panyin, which is the ancient land of Yuyang County. Lu Wan got his name here in the early Han Dynasty, and established a county after his death. Surrounded by mountains on all sides and flat in the middle, it is named after Pinggu.

The origin of the name Pinggu is named after the terrain: "Surrounded by mountains on all sides and flat in the middle". Although the dynasty has changed and the mountains and rivers have not changed, the area is larger than in the past. As far as the general trend is concerned, Yanshan Mountain is high in the north and water flows south. The cities are located in the middle, bordering on Jixian in Tianjin, Sanhe in Hebei and Xinglong, just at the junction of the three provinces and cities.

From 1946 to 1953, some villages were included from the surrounding counties such as Jixian, Miyun, Huairou and Sanhe, forming the current Pinggu area. Up to now, the whole region is divided into 16 townships, 2 streets, 272 administrative villages and 30 community neighborhood committees, with a permanent population of 423,000.
