What does the cloud picture mean?

Cloud image refers to a set of pictures that can reflect the scale, shape, texture and distribution of clouds in the sky. Add a restriction description, explaining that the pictures taken according to what specifications are cloud images.

By analyzing the shape characteristics of clouds, we can infer the meteorological conditions for the formation of clouds, and then predict the future weather changes. There are many shapes of clouds, and the physical process of their formation is also very different. Its formation process is not only related to meteorological conditions, but also influenced by topographic conditions.

In the cloud map of China compiled by China Meteorological Bureau, clouds are divided into three groups according to the height from the bottom to the ground, and then divided into ten genera and twenty-nine species according to their macroscopic characteristics, physical structure and causes. Pictures that can reflect the typical characteristics of different kinds of clouds are gathered together, which is the cloud map in the traditional sense.

The appearance of satellite cloud images enables people to observe the global distribution of clouds in a certain period of time, and this observation is carried out from top to bottom. According to the different optical bands used by satellite sensors (equivalent to camera lenses), the obtained images are divided into visible light cloud images and infrared cloud images.

Visible satellite cloud image is an image formed by the reflection of sunlight in visible light band on the earth surface, which can reflect the difference of reflectivity between the earth surface and clouds. According to the different reflections of clouds on the visible light of the sun, we can distinguish the macroscopic characteristics such as the height, thickness and distribution of clouds.

The function of cloud image:

Infrared satellite cloud image is an image formed by infrared light emitted from the earth's surface in infrared band, which can reflect the temperature difference between the earth's surface and clouds. According to the difference of infrared light emitted by clouds, we can distinguish the macroscopic characteristics of clouds such as height, thickness and distribution by calculating the temperature of clouds. Visible satellite cloud images can only get the images of clouds in the daytime, while infrared satellite cloud images are not limited by day and night.
