Are the species in the misty mountains flourishing?

Fog Mountain is located in the South Appalachian Mountains at the junction of North Carolina and Tennessee in the eastern United States. It was formed at the end of the Pleistocene Ice Age and has a history of millions of years. Glaciers have reduced the climate of the whole area. The cold climate makes plants such as evergreen trees in the north extend southward and reach the territory of Dawushan National Park.

Later, when the glaciers retreated northward, these forests disappeared. Some forests have been preserved because of the high coolness and humidity of Fog Mountain. In Wushan Park, slogans everywhere are urging tourists to see this "unchanging world".

There are 25 peaks 1.800 meters above Wushan Mountain, which blocks the southward movement of the great glacier, so you can find plants and animals in the north and south here.

The dense forest and species diversity of Wushan Mountain are largely related to topography. The Appalachian Mountains block the ancient glaciers, and the Fog Mountain is a part of the Appalachian Mountains. There are more than 100 tree species and 1300 flowering plants growing here. This lush virgin woodland, like an uncut jade, silently and persistently shows its original beauty. The whole park is overgrown with shrubs, so the Woods are very humid and covered with mountains all the year round, hence the name Wushan. Lush leaves produce a lot of water vapor and hydrocarbons due to respiration. When the weather is warm, the foggy mountain is filled with hazy mist. At different times of the day, mountain fog presents different scenes. In the early morning, the fog filled the whole valley, and only the high peaks in the distance flashed. At noon, the mountain atomized into wisps of light smoke and slowly slid over the mountainside. At sunset, the mountain fog turned into a rosy cloud curtain, setting off the purple mountains in the sunset.

The forest coverage rate of Wushan Mountain is above 95%. The changeable terrain in mountainous areas provides a good environment for the growth and evolution of vegetation, and the plant community changes obviously with altitude. The upper part of the mountain is a coniferous forest dominated by Canadian fir and spruce; Broad-leaved forest is dominant in the middle and lower parts; At the foot of the mountain, tall oak, pine and hemlock are mixed together.

The species of animals in Wushan Mountain are also rich and diverse. There are more than 30 kinds of mammals here, including famous cougars and black bears. There are 7 species of turtles, 8 species of lizards and 23 species of snakes among reptiles. There are also 70 species of native fish living in the mountains and streams. There are many kinds of amphibians in Wushan, among which 27 species of salamanders are the most in the world, among which the red-bellied salamander is a rare animal that only exists in Wushan.

Because of the fertile soil and abundant precipitation, many species are unique in the world. The landform, biological evolution and species diversity here make this park an amazing nature reserve.
