How to grow orchids?

This question is answered based on my own practice of potted orchids and the experience of orchid friends growing orchids.

The key to growing orchids lies in eight words: one soil, two water, three light, four fertilizer, five temperature, six moisture, seven o'clock, eight pots.

One soil. With the consent of my good friend, Mr. Low-key, I am now disclosing his secret recipe for potting soil for orchids. After long-term exploration and summary, Mr. Low-key has successfully developed a method for preparing potting soil for potted orchids. It is roughly as follows: break the new bricks into pieces as big as peas, then rinse them with clean water and add rotten leaves. The ratio of broken bricks to rotten leaves is 7:3. The orchids planted in this potting soil have extremely lush root systems, and none of the orchid roots rot. After the orchid bush grows for a year, the pot will be full.

Dihydrate. Good soil requires good water. Without good water, the soil will deteriorate. If you use tap water to water your orchids in the north for a long time, the soil will become acidic and alkaline. Therefore, it is best to store natural rainwater for orchid cultivation. If you have good water, you must be able to water it. Watering time, watering amount, and watering method are all crucial. It is advisable to water orchids at eight or nine o'clock in the morning on a sunny day, but it is not advisable to water orchids at noon, afternoon and evening in summer and winter. Watering thoroughly without retaining water, watering thoroughly without watering frequently are the basic principles.

Three lights. Bluegrass prefers direct sunlight in the rising sun. Remember a mantra: like the morning sun, avoid the noon sun, and avoid the sunset. In all seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter, orchids need direct sunlight in the morning, and astigmatism is visible at other times.

Four fats. Orchid grass prefers thin and mature fertilizers and avoids thick and raw fertilizers. It is not suitable to use chemical fertilizers. Do not topdress during the dormant and flowering periods. The best quality organic fertilizer is organic liquid fertilizer made from the hooves of mules, horses, cattle and donkeys.

Five temperatures. The growth of orchid grass is different from that of Clivia. It has strong resistance to high temperatures in summer, but during winter in the greenhouse, the room temperature should not be too high.

Six dampness. Bluegrass growth is very sensitive to air humidity. Especially in winter, when growing orchids at home, if the air humidity is not enough, the orchid leaves will dry up and wither. Therefore, if possible, it is best to build a simple flower cellar and maintain potted orchids in the flower cellar. When growing orchids on the balcony, you also need to set up a plastic shed in winter to keep it warm and moisturizing.

Seven o'clock. Bluegrass management is different throughout the seasons. The most important thing is to remember one sentence: if autumn does not come in, spring will not come out. It is not advisable to bring orchids indoors too early in autumn to ensure that the plants have a certain period of vernalization. Without vernalization, orchids will have difficulty in growing flower buds, such as winter wheat. It is not advisable to leave the house too early in spring. The suitable time to leave the house is after Grain Rain and before the Beginning of Summer.

Eight pots. The pot used for planting orchids should be small rather than large, and should be deep rather than shallow.
