The balloon flew into the sky?

The balloon flying into the sky finally bursts, releasing gas and falling to the surface.

As the lowest density substance known on the earth, hydrogen is really "very light". A cubic meter of hydrogen has a mass of less than 90 grams, and its density is only about one fourteenth of that of air. Under the gravity of the earth, low-density things can't occupy the space of high-density things without external force. When the gas with high density falls, it will crowd out the gas with low density and make it flow to the upper layer or the space within its density range.

So in theory, hydrogen can float to the extreme edge of the earth's atmosphere under the action of density, and some will lose space through the escape layer. The earth's atmosphere contains almost no hydrogen. Although it can't be said that there is absolutely no hydrogen, the content is very small and almost negligible. This is why most hydrogen has "escaped".

But hydrogen balloons can't float out of the atmosphere. We blow out hydrogen balloons at standard pressure, and there is no difference in size with the change of height in a short time. But one thing to know is that the thinness of the earth's atmosphere is determined by the height! The higher the height, the thinner the gas, and the thinner the gas means the lower the air pressure.

With the height rising, the air pressure is getting smaller and smaller, and the balloon will get bigger and bigger under the pressure, which will eventually lead to the balloon bursting. Therefore, the balloon flying to the sky will eventually land after bursting at a certain height.

The invention of balloons

In the 2nd or 3rd century BC, China invented the earliest balloon sky lantern, which was used to transmit military signals. Hot air balloons have a long history in China. They are called sky lanterns or Kongming lanterns. Joseph Needham, a famous scholar, also pointed out that Mongols used dragon lanterns to transmit signals in the battle of Liezhnitz in 124 1 year.

On 1783, the French montague brothers released the first balloon filled with hot air in Europe. French brother Robert was the first person to fly into the sky in a balloon filled with hydrogen.

It was winter in 1772. The Montgomery brothers in Lyon, France, were sitting in front of the fireplace to keep warm, and a thick smoke rushed to the top of the stove. My brother looked at it and suddenly thought of an interesting idea: if you make a bag and put cigarettes in it, you can make the bag fly.

So the two brothers found silk, sewed it into their pockets, put cigarettes in their pockets, and the pockets really rose-this is the earliest balloon that human beings appeared. Later, after 10 years of efforts, the Montgomery brothers finally sent a huge hot air balloon into the sky in 1783. When the king knew about it, he specially invited them to perform at Versailles.
