Qiantang River, called Zhejiang in ancient times, is also called Zhejiang River, Zhijiang River and Luosha River. Qiantang River is the largest river in Zhejiang Province, the source of the naming of Liangzhe Road in Song Dynasty, and the source of the provincial name when Zhejiang was established in the early Ming Dynasty. It starts from Xin 'anjiang in the north and is 588.73 kilometers long. It starts from Ma Jinxi in the upper reaches of Qujiang River in the south, with a total length of 522.22 kilometers. From the source, it flows through southern Anhui Province and Zhejiang Province, with a drainage area of 55,058 square kilometers, and flows into the East China Sea via Hangzhou Bay.

The annual average precipitation is 1600mm, in which it is rainy from April to June, accounting for 50%, which is prone to floods. From July to September, it accounts for 20%, with frequent droughts and large annual and inter-annual changes in river runoff. For example, the ratio of measured annual runoff at Tibu Station on Fuchunjiang Road (control area 3 1700 square kilometers) is 5: 1.
