Shaanxi Province, referred to as Shaanxi or Qin for short, is a provincial administrative region in People's Republic of China (PRC), with the provincial capital An, located in the hinterland of China and the middle reaches of the Yellow River, bordering Shaanxi, Henan, Ningxia and Gansu in the east, Sichuan, Chongqing and Hubei in the south and Inner Mongolia in the north, with the range from 105 29' to100.
As of June, 2022, 1 1, Shaanxi Province has 10 prefecture-level cities, 3 1 municipal districts, 7 county-level cities and 69 counties. Shaanxi Province is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese nation and culture, and four regimes, including the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Qin Dynasty, the Han Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty, successively established their capitals in Shaanxi.
Shaanxi Province is high in the north and low in the south, and consists of plateaus, mountains, plains and basins, of which the Loess Plateau accounts for 40% of the province's land area and spans the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, three climatic zones. North of the Great Wall in northern Shaanxi belongs to temperate monsoon climate, while Guanzhong and northern Shaanxi belong to warm temperate monsoon climate, while southern Shaanxi belongs to north subtropical monsoon climate.
Climatic characteristics of Shaanxi;
Shaanxi province spans three climatic zones, and the climate between north and south is quite different. Southern Shaanxi belongs to the north subtropical climate, Guanzhong and northern Shaanxi belong to the warm temperate climate, and northern Shaanxi along the Great Wall belongs to the moderate temperate climate. The climate is generally characterized by warm and dry spring, less precipitation, rapid and unstable temperature rise, windy and dusty weather, hot and rainy summer, intermittent drought, cool and humid autumn and rapid temperature drop.
Winter is cold and dry, with low temperature and scarce rain and snow. The annual average temperature in the whole province is 9 ~ 16℃, decreasing from south to north and from east to west. The annual average temperature in northern Shaanxi is 7 ~ 12℃, that in Guanzhong is 12 ~ 14℃, that in southern Shaanxi is 14 ~ 16℃, and the annual average precipitation is 340 ~ 65400.
