Where is Chenggu?

Chenggu County, located in the middle of Hanzhong Basin in Shaanxi Province, is the hometown of Zhang Qian, a famous diplomatic activist and pioneer of the Silk Road in the Western Han Dynasty. The county covers an area of 2,265 square kilometers and is rich in natural resources. Jurisdiction over 18 towns and 6 townships: Wang Bo Town, Longtou Town, Shaheying Town, Wen Chuan Town, Liulin Town, Laozhuang Town, Cuijiashan Town, Juyuan Town, Yuan Gong Town, Shangyuanguan Town, Tianming Town, Erli Town, Wudu Town, Sun Ping Town, Shuangxi Town, Shuimo Town, xiaohe town Town, Baoshan Town and Wulang Town. A famous diplomatic activist in the Western Han Dynasty, the first person to explore western China, and the initiator of the Silk Road in West Asia-Bowang Hou Zhang Qian. Chenggu is the hometown of Zhang Qian.

According to the textual research of cultural relics unearthed in modern times, there were human activities in this county as early as the Paleolithic Age. In the Neolithic Age, ancestral villages lived in groups and thrived. In the third year of the Zhou Dynasty (3 12 BC), Qin defeated Chu in Danyang, took the land of Chu and Hanzhong, set Hanzhong County in the land of Qin and Han Dynasties, and set Chenggu County at the same time.

Qin and Han dynasties have a vast territory. At the beginning of the Shu and Han Dynasties in the Three Kingdoms, it was analyzed that the southern land was located in the southern towns and counties. The Southern Song Dynasty was changed to Chenggu. During the beginning and extension of the Northern Dynasties, Long Ting County and Xingshi County were located in the east successively. In the second year of Tang Wude (6 19), Chenggu was changed to Tanggu. In the third year (620), the northwest and Nanzheng counties of the county were partially assigned to Baiyun County. In nine years (626), Baiyun County was abandoned and successfully merged into the county. In the second year of Zhenguan (628), Chenggu was renamed.

Chenggu is located in the middle of Hanzhong basin. The county has a total area of 2,265 square kilometers and a total population of more than 500,000. The county is long in the north and south and narrow in the east and west. According to the topographical features, it naturally forms three parts: Qinling Mountain area in the north, Pingchuan area of Hanjiang River in the middle and Bashan shallow mountain area in the south. Among them, Pingchuan District in the middle accounts for about 80% of the county's total population, which is a relatively developed area in the county.
