Zhuhai is a prefecture-level city and sub-central city in Guangdong Province, a China Special Economic Zone approved by the State Council, a core city on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary, a coastal scenic tourist city and an important node city in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Located in the south-central part of Guangdong Province, it faces Hong Kong and Shenzhen across the sea in the east and Macao land in the south. Hengqin New District faces Macau across the river, with Jiangmen City in the west and Zhongshan City in the north.

Zhuhai has successively won the titles of "National Garden City", "China Excellent Tourism City", "China Most Happy City", "National Forest City" and "China Ecological Civilization Award".

Related history

From the Southern Song Dynasty to the Republic of China, most of Zhuhai was under the jurisdiction of Zhongshan County (formerly known as Xiangshan County). According to the archaeological findings of polished stones and painted pottery, people from primitive tribes lived here as early as the Neolithic Age four or five thousand years ago. Around Phoenix Mountain and some islands in the Pearl River Estuary, sand dunes, hills and terraces left the remains of our ancestors.

During the Warring States period, it was a land of hundreds of leaps and bounds. After Qin Shihuang unified China, Nanhai County was established in Lingnan in 33 years (2 14 BC), which belonged to Nanhai County.

The early Han Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of Nanyue State. Ding Yuan in the Han Dynasty (BC 165438+ BC 0 1) was under the jurisdiction of Panyu County until the Eastern Han Dynasty.
