Old people often say, "Crickets chirp and it's sunny". Is it really reasonable?

In fact, it is a proverb that a mole sings and it is sunny, but it also has certain scientific basis. Mole singing shows that there is not much water vapor in the air, which is a sign of sunny days.

Gryllotalpa It is a general term for arthropods, Insecta, Orthoptera, Gryllotalpa and Gryllotalpa. Gryphon, commonly known as Larrabee, Larrabee, green-eyed bat, hyena and so on. , is a medicinal insect. There are four kinds of crickets that are common and widely distributed in Chinese mainland, namely Gryllotalpa unispina Saussure and Oriental Gryllotalpa? Oriental Gryphon (Burmeister), Jinxiu Gryphon (Jinxiu Gryphon; Li) and Taiwan Province Province? Taiwan Province Baimu). Generally, drugs from North China and East China are the main drugs. Medicinal materials are usually dry adults and nymphs of Gryllotamidae.

Winter dormancy period

When the temperature drops, this area begins to move underground in the late June of 10, with one nest and one insect, head down, and dislikes social life. Most of them live in frozen soil and above the groundwater level, overwintering with adults and nymphs, and then turn around and move to the surface when the temperature rises above 8℃ in the following year.

Spring awakening stage

From the end of April to the beginning of May, the wintering mole began to move. After reaching the surface, the virtual mound is first raised. The virtual mound in North China is about 15cm, which is larger, while the virtual mound in East China is about 10cm, which is smaller. This is the best time to investigate the mole and kill it manually.

Outgoing migration stage

At the beginning of May, a large number of curved virtual soil tunnels appeared on the surface, leaving a small hole on it, and the mole had left its nest to do harm. It is at this stage that migration causes the roots of seedlings to leave the soil, and the roots lose water, leading to the death of seedlings.

Stage of rampant harm

In the middle and late May, overwintering adults and nymphs began to feed in large quantities to meet their needs of spawning and growth, and there was a phenomenon of lack of seedlings and broken strips.

Oversummer spawning period

From late June to early August, the temperature rises and the weather is hot. In summer, two kinds of crickets dive into the soil below 30~40cm to lay eggs. After digging a hole into the soil, the female North China mole cricket first digs the secret room and then holds eggs in the secret room. Lay 50~500 eggs. Before oriental mole crickets lay eggs, females usually make a pear-shaped egg chamber at a depth of 5~ 10cm, and each egg chamber usually lays 30~50 eggs.

Autumn dangerous stage

From the end of August to the end of September, the more summer, the more nymphs rise to the soil surface to feed, supplement nutrition and prepare for winter. This is the second harmful period of the year.

Effects of temperature and humidity on mole cricket.

The activity of crickets is greatly influenced by soil temperature and humidity. Air temperature 12.5 ~ 19.8℃ and 20cm soil temperature 12.5 ~ 19.9℃ are suitable temperatures for cricket activities. The activity is the highest when the relative humidity of soil is above 20%.

This is why it is sunny when the mole sings!
