Anecdotes and allusions of Pang Anshi

I. Pang Anshi and Su Dongpo

Pang Anshi has close contacts with Su Dongpo. Because Su Dongpo is good at calligraphy, his friends often give him good ink. Pang Anshi cured a person's serious illness, and he didn't need a penny from the patient, but only gave him the ancestral famous ink (claimed to be made by the famous Mohist Zhang Tingjue). Pang Anshi took the ink to Su Dongpo again and asked him for a few words in exchange. Su Dongpo felt that he had picked up a bargain and took the initiative to advertise for him, saying that he was good at treating strange diseases and typhoid fever.

Second, Pang Anshi and Yang Jing

Pang Anshi, a famous doctor in the Northern Song Dynasty, has made great contributions to the cause of traditional Chinese medicine, and his anecdotes have been passed down from generation to generation in Xishui.

According to legend, there was a drought one year, and the plague was prevalent in Yangjiapu, Chengguo Lane, Xishui, but Pang Anshi found that his prescription was effective elsewhere, but it didn't work here. When he came here, he found that the villagers' water intake and water use were inseparable, and they were all taken from the polluted pond. In order to solve this problem, they must drill well at once. So, he found Yang Ke, a disciple who was practicing medicine locally, and they went up the mountain together to find water. The two of them came to a hillside Pang Anshi stopped by a small tree and saw the thick grass beside it. He said happily, "You see, in such dry weather, fresh water keeps pouring out here. Isn't this the water source? " Yang Ke was overjoyed. After seeing off the teacher, he began to dig wells here according to the teacher's planning and design, and invited masons. Beat the white stone into a circle of stone wells, from the bottom of the well to the wellhead. It took 72 times to build a deep spring well, and the water quality of this well is clear. He used this water to decoct medicine for the patient, and sure enough, the medicine was cured. After the local villagers got water to eat, men, women and children were flushed and didn't get sick at all. Qi Zan Pang Anshi and his disciples did a great thing for them. So everyone thought it over, and invited a stonemason to carve the three characters "Pang Gong Jing" on the stone tablet, ready to stand by and watch the well. When Pang Anshi heard about this, he immediately came to dissuade him, saying, "Your Yang family opened a well for everyone to use. How can you charge the loan to my account? So I gave it a name and called it Yang Jing ".
