Climatic characteristics of Dalian

Dalian is located in the warm temperate zone of the northern hemisphere, with a continental monsoon climate of warm temperate zone with maritime characteristics. There is no severe cold in winter, no heat in summer and four distinct seasons. The annual average temperature is 10.5 degrees Celsius, the annual precipitation is 550-950 mm, and the total sunshine hours are 2500-2800 hours. Dalian is located at the southernmost tip of Liaodong Peninsula, surrounded by the sea on three sides. The ocean plays a very important role in regulating climate. The climate in Dalian is generally comfortable and the air is humid.

The geographical location of Dalian

Dalian is located on the east coast of Eurasia, at the southernmost tip of Liaodong Peninsula in northeast China, between east longitude 120 degrees 58 minutes and 123 degrees 3 1, and north latitude 38 degrees 43 minutes and 40 degrees 10 minutes. It borders the Yellow Sea in the east, the Bohai Sea in the west, the Shandong Peninsula across the sea in the south and the vast Northeast Plain in the north. The average summer temperature in Dalian is 22.6℃, and the average maximum temperature is 26.4℃, which gradually decreases from west to east in space. The extreme maximum temperature generally appears in June, but the duration of high temperature in June is short and the temperature difference between day and night is large. The relative humidity is high in July and August, generally between 83%-9 1%. When the temperature reaches 30℃, it will feel sultry, but the days when the highest temperature in Dalian exceeds 30℃ in summer are only 10 ~ 12 days, which makes people feel sultry for a short time.

Due to the adjustment of the ocean, there is more rain at night than during the day in Dalian, especially in summer. Summer rainfall is concentrated, and there are more rainy days. Typhoons and heavy rains often occur in this season, and seasonal precipitation accounts for 60-70% of the annual precipitation, which is prone to local floods.

In autumn, the temperature drops rapidly, the rain drops sharply, the air is dry and the climate is cool. After autumn, the northwest monsoon began to strengthen, the temperature dropped rapidly, the number of precipitation days dropped sharply, and the average relative humidity dropped below 75%. The origin of Dalian's name

The name of Dalian originated from Dalian Bay and began in modern times. 1880, Li Hongzhang, Minister of Beiyang, mentioned "Dalian Bay" in his memorial on the construction plan of Dalian Bay military port. The place name of Dalian is a transliteration of "Darini". "Darini" is Russian, which means "far away". The origin of "Darini" is that after Dalian became a Russian concession, it was named Darini and opened as a free trade port according to the order of Tsar Nicholas.

During the Japanese occupation, February 1905 was called Dalian. After liberation, in April, 1949, 1, Dalian and Lushun were collectively called Lvda City. 1981February was renamed Dalian with the approval of the State Council.
