Is the cold front a strong convective weather?

The front formed by the active movement of cold air mass to warm air mass is called cold front. During the front movement, the cold air mass plays a leading role in pushing the front to move to the side of the warm air mass, which does not belong to strong convective weather.

The cold front in the northern hemisphere usually runs from northeast to southwest and can stretch for hundreds of miles, including large areas of land. With the cold front passing, towering cumulonimbus clouds or cumulonimbus clouds still dominate the sky. Depending on the intensity of the cold front, heavy rain may be accompanied by lightning, thunder and/or hail. A more severe cold front will also produce tornadoes.

Strong convective weather refers to sudden, violent and destructive weather, often accompanied by strong convective disasters such as thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes and local heavy rainfall. Strong convective weather occurs in convective cloud system or single convective cloud block, which belongs to small and medium-scale weather system in meteorology.
