Jiangjin district is located in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, between 28 degrees 28 minutes north latitude and 29 degrees 28 minutes east longitude 105 degrees 49 minutes-106 degrees 38 minutes east longitude. Located in the southwest of Chongqing, it borders Jiulongpo District and Banan District of Chongqing in the east, Xishui County of Guizhou Province in the south, Hejiang County of Sichuan Province in the west and Yongchuan District and Bishan District of Chongqing in the north. It is 80km wide from east to west and100km long from north to south, with an area of 3218km2.
Jiangjin has a long history, rich culture and profound foundation. In the 5th year of Yongming in the Southern Qi Dynasty (AD 487), the county was established 1500 years ago. 1992 set up a city from the county, and set up a district from the city in 2006.
