Diary of Hiking the Yangtze River (32) Fengdu ~ Gaojia Town
I went to bed early last night and woke up around two in the morning. I was no longer sleepy, looking at my phone and writing the unfinished diary from the previous day.
It was pitch black outside the window, and the Yangtze River under my feet was still submerged in the night.
More than two hours later, sleepiness came over me and I fell asleep again. My phone slipped to the ground and broke the protective film again.
After waking up again, the Yangtze River and Longhe Bridge were clearly visible outside the window of the Longgang Hotel where I was staying. The hotel is on the first to sixth floors. Since the fifth and sixth floors are being renovated, I live on the fourth floor. Ever since I started hiking the Yangtze River, no matter where I stayed or what kind of accommodation I was staying in, I would always wake up with a view of the river.
At eight o'clock, we went out to the riverside and prepared to take a ferry to visit the Fengdu Ghost Town on the other side of the river. There are not many people on the road and on the shore.
On Yingbin Avenue on the shore, sanitation workers are cleaning the streets, and staff from the water department are also working hard to pick up garbage and debris from the river and reed marshes.
It seems that the national leader's "lucid waters and lush mountains are our gold and silver mountains" are not empty words, at least they are not just words. Local government agencies and people are implementing them to the letter. .
As a citizen of the estuary of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, I sincerely thank the people in the middle and upper reaches for their hard work and efforts, which have enabled us to have a good environment and ecological balance in the lower reaches of the city.
Give these environmental protection workers in the Yangtze River Basin 10,000 thumbs up! ! !
After breakfast, seeing the drizzle, I was not so annoyed, so I followed the directions of the guests at the hotel where I had dinner last night and headed towards the river bank towards the ferry terminal, preparing to cross the river to visit Fengdu Ghost Town.
Fengdu has a history of more than 1,900 years. It has been known as the capital of the underworld in history and folklore. It is the seat of the underworld. Everyone who dies must go there to report and then accept the news. Judgment, rewards and punishments based on whether you have done evil and meritorious deeds in the previous life, and carry out reincarnation in the next life.
"I only laugh at the dirt in the world, but my soul is lost in Fengdu in the north." The famous poem of the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai, left behind after visiting Fengdu is still preserved on both sides of the famous mountain archway in Fengdu.
The real Fengdu is naturally not the eerie underworld capital in myths and legends, but a city that is gradually developing towards modernization like other places. With the construction of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, the county seat has been moved to the south bank.
A place has its own characteristics and iconic landscape. Everyone in Fengdu, China and even the whole world, knows that if you haven’t been to the ghost town in Jiangbei, you haven’t been to Fengdu. Naturally, I can’t avoid it.
However, it started to rain early this morning, and there was still a lot of fog. Not only was the weather unfavorable, but also due to the resurgence of the COVID-19 epidemic, the ferry terminal was suspended.
I didn’t know that I was walking alone along the Yangtze River, ignorant and uninformed. After finally walking to the ferry, I saw several people carrying or carrying small bags onto the boat from a pontoon. I also saw a staff member on the boat opening the iron door for them and then closing it. As a reflex, he hurriedly stepped onto the pontoon and boarded the boat, which shocked everyone on board.
The boat left and missed the flight. As I hurried towards the boat, I looked back and saw that there were no thieves.
"What are you doing?" The staff member stopped me and shouted loudly.
Suddenly I understood and immediately said: "Ferry, ferry. Take a boat to the other side, ferry!"
"Chongqing (epidemic) epidemic, it is not open," the staff member said Then he drove me out of the iron gate of the pontoon.
Now I understand the "Trump" words of Chongqing people. Due to the epidemic, ferries have been suspended.
The last time I misheard what they said was ten days ago. A little girl called her sister from the balcony of her house: "Big sister, big sister." I heard it as robbery, and I was shocked. .
I had to go ashore and walk back.
After lunch at the small restaurant opposite our residence, the rain eased a little and the fog became thicker. After thinking about it, I went back to my room to pack my bags and get ready to go. As long as it's not a heavy rainstorm, try not to waste time. It's just the beginning of spring. Such situations will continue to happen in the future, and more complex and changeable weather is waiting behind.
Depart at 2:20 in the afternoon, cross the Ma'anshan Bridge, and move forward.
The sidewalk on Shuitianping Avenue is much wider than other roads. It is easy to walk on normal days, but it is different on rainy days. The one-meter-wide pavement bricks are not slippery, the ditch covers are loose and have holes that can rub your feet, and they are covered with mottled moss, indicating that there are usually few pedestrians.
After walking for a while in the drizzle, my feet suddenly became unstable and I stumbled to a squatting position. I struggled to climb up with the trekking poles, observed the ground, and analyzed that maybe the isolation cement strip about ten centimeters wide between the walkway bricks and the ditch cover was safer and not very slippery.
So after walking for three or four kilometers staring at the cement separation strip in the middle, after passing Caoxi in Xingyi Town, we turned and continued along the S105 Provincial Highway and the Chongqing-Jian section.
The rain was getting heavier and heavier, so I had to temporarily stop moving forward and take shelter under the eaves of the clinic in Zhangjiaping Village, three to four hundred meters ahead after crossing the Zhangjiagou Bridge.
G351 National Highway, continue to move forward.
It was getting late, so we had to hurry up and rush to the next town.
After crossing the Gaozhen Bridge, we finally entered Gaojia Town.
Since it was a rainy day, the light rain was intermittent, and the muddy water from passing vehicles splashed all over.
Fortunately, the two sets of clothes washed in the hotel yesterday were dried and can be replaced.
When we arrived in the town, we first found a small restaurant to have dinner, and then found a business hotel to stay.
