Where is Fuzhou Blue Tears Beach?

Fuzhou Blue Tears Beach is located 500 meters east of Canghai Village 133, Aodong Town, Pingtan County, Fuzhou City.

"Blue tears" generally appear in the summer of each year (especially in the spring-summer exchange season), mostly from April to August, usually after 7 pm. The temperature of "blue tears" should be suitable (the water temperature is about 20 degrees, which is also one of the conditions for noctiluca to appear easily), and it is best to choose a sunny night. Blue tears will be washed ashore by the waves at high tide and low tide, so it is the best time to watch blue tears at high tide at night.

There are two kinds of "blue tears" in pingtan, one is the "blue tears" of fireflies and the other is the "blue tears" of night light. The best places to watch the blue tears in Pingtan, Fujian are Longfengtou Beach, Tannan Bay, Beigang Village, Dongjia Island, Changjiang Depression, Pingtan Tangyu Island and other beaches.

Introduction to the causes of blue tears;

Blue tears, also known as fluorescent sea, are mostly produced by noctiluca or fireflies through bioluminescence. Noctiluca scintillans and Yinghai don't glow when floating in calm sea water, but they will emit faint blue light when they are strongly disturbed by the outside world.

Nocturnal algae and sea glow because they contain fluorescein and luciferase. Using luciferase as a catalyst, fluorescein reacts with oxygen to emit blue light. Because the energy released is very weak, "blue tears" will not make people feel hot.

Although a single noctiluca or seahawk can emit light independently, to see the spectacular blue tears phenomenon, there are certain requirements for the concentration of luminescent microorganisms in seawater, and the local wind direction, temperature and other conditions are suitable. The suitable temperature for noctiluca scintillans growth is about 10-25℃, and the optimum temperature is 18-20℃. Therefore, "blue tears" occur frequently from April to August every year. At this time, the seawater climate is suitable and the number of diatoms is large, which is conducive to the reproduction of noctiluca which loves to prey on diatoms.
