Observation means of downburst

Scholars at home and abroad have done some research on downburst. The air divergence caused by the downburst only occurs in the height range close to the ground, and can only be found very close to the radar. Doppler weather radar is the main means to detect the downburst, and conventional weather stations and instruments cannot directly observe the downburst.

Since 2004, the United States has been using WSR-88D radar to identify and warn the downburst. The results show that the early warning time of the downburst is related to its distance from the radar, which is about 20-45 kilometers, and the early warning time is 5.5 minutes. Within the range of 45-80 kilometers, the early warning time is basically 0; If it is less than 20km and more than 80km, the downburst warning cannot be carried out.
