Why do some people not sweat in summer?

People often feel the same way. When they encounter strong external stimuli, they will find themselves "scared out in a sweat". In fact, this is a normal reaction, because mental stimulation increases nerve impulses and acetylcholine secretion, leading to hyperhidrosis. But some people are "shocked and sweatless." Why? Hypohidrosis or anhidrosis on the skin surface can be caused by the abnormality of sweat glands themselves or the abnormality of neural pathways at a certain level. The main reasons are as follows:

(1) Congenital hypoplasia of sweat glands or absence of sweat glands can be manifested as systemic or localized anhidrosis.

(2) Some skin diseases, such as severe ichthyosis, scleroderma, leprosy, radiation dermatitis and skin atrophy, can cause localized anhidrosis.

(3) Nerve injury, such as transverse myelitis, poliomyelitis, paraplegia, local injury of sympathetic nerve, medulla oblongata and pons, can cause systemic or local anhidrosis.

④ Some visceral diseases, such as diabetes, diabetes insipidus, chronic nephritis, mucinous edema, malignant tumor, etc. In addition, vitamin A deficiency, etc. , but also cause systemic anhidrosis.

Except for anhidrosis caused by congenital sweat gland dysplasia, which cannot be treated at present, if it is caused by other diseases, the primary disease should be actively treated. If you don't sweat in summer and your body temperature can't be adjusted, you can move to a low temperature area or take artificial cooling, such as installing air conditioners indoors.

How does Chinese medicine treat anhidrosis?

"It will sweat when it is hot, and it will not sweat when it is cold." This is people's feeling, but sometimes it can be deceptive. In fact, the skin secretes sweat through sweat glands every day, but when the temperature is low, the sweat secreted by sweat glands is not only too little, but also evaporates just after leaving the epidermis. It is called "invisible sweating" in medicine, so why do people sweat? In addition to emitting heat, there are other important functions: ① Sweat can maintain the physiological balance of water supply and evaporation and prevent the cuticle from drying. (2) Sweat can acidify the skin surface and prevent microbial invasion. ③ Sweat and sebum emulsify with each other to form a lipid membrane on the skin surface. In addition, it is also related to the metabolism of electrolytes, mucopolysaccharides and hormones. Therefore, patients with anhidrosis should seek medical treatment as soon as possible. Comprehensive treatment can be used to alleviate the pain of patients.
