Why did Seoul change its name to Seoul
Lee Myung-bak, mayor of hancheng city, explained that most countries call Seoul according to the pronunciation similar to English signs. With the increasing communication between South Korea and China, the name "Seoul" has caused more and more confusion. After more than a year of negotiation, Hancheng decided to use a new Chinese name "Seoul" instead of "Seoul", which means the capital in Korean. Because people didn't want to restore the memory of ancient China's surrender, they changed their name to Seoul directly because there was no name to use.
Seoul was originally the capital of Koguryo and one of the three capitals. 1392, Li Chenggui, the great ancestor of Korea, established the Korean dynasty in Jing Kai, and moved to Hanyang, now Seoul, in 1394. Since then, Hanyang has been the capital of North Korea. During the Japanese occupation, Hanyang was reduced to Seoul County until it was merged into Gyeonggi Province with Kaicheng County. After the recovery of South Korea, the independent government began to use the Korean special word "Seoul" in 1948. Because there was no Chinese name at that time, China and others always used the Chinese name Seoul.
Introduction to Seoul:
Seoul Nanshan is located in the city center, 270 meters high. There is a 240-meter-high Seoul Tower on the top of the mountain. Seoul is located in the lower reaches of the Han River, only 30 kilometers from the west coast of the Korean Peninsula. The Hanjiang River flows slowly from east to west, and the water surface is about 400 to 1000 meters wide. The city stretches along a gentle valley and is naturally divided into north and south areas. Around the city, low mountains and hills about 500 meters above sea level, such as Liechengguo, play a natural protective role.
Seoul has a temperate monsoon climate, with an average annual temperature of about 1 1.8℃, four distinct seasons, little rain in spring and autumn, and a warm climate, which is suitable for tourism. In summer (June to mid-September), the average monthly temperature is 20℃-27℃, which is a continuous high temperature and rainy weather; In winter (65438+February ~ February), the temperature is slightly lower than other cities in the same latitude (the monthly average temperature is -5℃~0℃).
